Sure, but if you can instead of adding to your floorstanders try mounting in front height position on the wall above your front towers, angled down towards MLP. Will result in much better height effects than reflective
These are killer speakers. I have 3 pairs in my Atmos setup - front Atmos, and side and rear surround. I paid $500 for each pair, too!
Holy crap.. what kind of receiver are you using? I am guessing a 15.2 receiver... those cost like 20k or something..

Is 18 gauge speaker wire too thin for these?
Depends on the distance, though I'd go with at least 16awg if under 25ft run

Thanks For the response! I assume you mean thicker gauge for runs over 25' and not under 25'. I think my furtherest speaker from receiver is around that margin. I bought 4 of these to perform as atmos upfiring speakers to sit upon my 4 towers in my current I 5. 1 system.
further Regarding speaker wire;
Can I splice together 2 different gaged speaker wires together to complete connection to reciever? Is it OK that I'm using thicker gauge speaker wire for the rest of my suround system? No problem with not staying uniform guage beteen all my speakers?

Correct. You can get a 100 foot roll from many places of 16awg in wall pure copper for $20 bucks. Check out parts express, i just made 100' of cable myself from all parts bought from there for $50 (wire, techflex, banana plugs etc.)

Sorry, a noob here. I have a pair of Klipsch 75W/150W at 8 Ohms Atmos speakers plugged into Onkyo TX-NR686 which has it's height channel at 6ohms / 8 ohms. If I get this speakers to do a 5.1.4, will this work safely in parallel?

Your reciever can't do 4 atmos channels, plus it only has 7 amps. 5.1.4 requires 9

Doesn't matter if you use thicker gauge speaker wire for the rest of your surround system, won't cause any issues. I'm using 14 gauge for all my speakers and then 16 for these.

I wouldn't imagine that splicing would cause any issues either, but don't quote me on that.

Just got them they have a hole for mounting in the back and using them as surrounds. Sound great.

how do these compare with the pioneer andrew jones atmos add on for $79? I have those. I know soft dome shouldn't be matched with horns. But would an horn atmos speaker not bland in? Just from an atmos perspective, does the rp-140sa really enhance the surrounding effect better than the andrew jones atmos add on? Any done a similar upgrade?

So question, I have my main setup in my living room which is in an open floor plan space with vaulted ceilings. Would I benefit from something like this considering I have such high ceilings?

This doesn't really work for vaulted ceilings does it?

Good deal. Paid $250 a few months ago. Now I can get to 5.1.4. Need a deal on a pair of RP-160Ms to get to 7.1.4.

Just paid $382 tax and shipping for them. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_714...s=16259289

I have heard of people using them as surrounds. They have a keyhole on the back so you can mount them like a bookshelf speaker but it will obviously angle down. I used to set them on top of my fronts but like them better as heights for my atmos setup.
If you are not put them on top of your front towers then where have you placed them?

I have Yamaha TSR 7810 7.1 receiver and my current set up is 5.1.2.
If I place these two over my front towers, can they be hooked into the "Extra SP1 F. Presence / Zone 2" ports?

If you're looking for a cheaper speakers for atmos and are fine mounting them, I'm running Polk OWM3s for a 5.1.4 ($90/pair) and they're solid.
