I bought this a few months ago off of eBay for about $30 more. Very happy with it, as I paired it with a Vizio 65PX-G1.

GUI isn't very refined, but for something that can handle Dolby Vision without having to switch settings with each disc (like I've heard some Sony's have to), I'm happy with it. I haven't tried the "smart features" of YouTube and Netflix, as my personal preference is to use the tv's built in apps.

For this price, if you need a 4k player to pair with all of the great UHD disc deals here on SD, I don't think you can do better in this price range.
Here's a link to a previous deal on this unit ($115). There's quite a bit of discussion of features and functionality.

The xbox one s/x do not play discs in dolby vision. It only supports dolby vision through streaming apps. This is a good choice as an inexpensive dedicated 4k player that also supports dolby vision, the premium hdr content.

Taking a shot on this. A lot of the reviews had problems playing discs, but most also had problems typing in English. Guess I will give it a go, thanks.

How does this compare to the UBP-x700 from Sony, aside from the larger footprint?

I own one. It is always $149 at Costco and over $200 everywhere else I think.
It is as no frills as it gets but has everything you need for 4k Blu-Ray play.
2 HDMI outs, auto sensing Dolby Vision (unlike the Sony), fast load and play.
I had a few hiccups but nothing more then I had with my Xbox One X. Everything pretty much played on it.

The remote is garbage and you have to point it almost directly in front of it to get it register.
The UI is barebones, no codec info, etc. It is also too long.

I'd say this is a great deal. I'd prefer the Sony 800 but that never drops in price and the feature set is similar.

Careful if you're trying to pair with Sony DV screens... doesn't work very well together. Personal experience talking, unless they fixed it with a firmware update.

Your 4k Blu-ray player is not your 4k streamer. This is a very good 4k player with Dolby Vision. No issues with mine. Had it over 6 months

That just comes in the search result. When you add it, the cart shows just the player with no additional stuff.

Doesn't the xbox one play 4k dvds as well? If so, makes no sense to buy this, I have seen xbox ones under this price
