I updated the Intel Wi-Fi 6 drivers. When the laptop sleeps, it has a hard time recovering the connection. I need to disconnect and reconnect.
updating the drivers caused it to have sleep issues, or you updated the drivers because it was having sleep issues? If the latter, did it help?

Can anyone help me? I have hard time pick between this and "New Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Bundle - 10th Gen Intel Core i5 - 2736 x 1824 Display - Windows 10 - Platinum". I use it for regular, and some video. Which is better choice ?
If you're using it mostly as a laptop and for video, I'd go with a laptop. Surface pros are terrible to service, such as when eventually the battery fails. The screen will start to pop out as the battery expands. It's glued together and you need a heat gun to pry it open. At least with a laptop you're most likely able to unscrew/pop out the out casing and access the battery to replace. Not to mention the cost savings. There's a costco deal for an HP on this site that is about $360 I believe. Sure it's got an intel i3 processor vs i5 but it should meet your needs for regular and video use.

Dumb question, but does Costco charge tax?
No, the government does.

I had bought a treadmill on my daughters Costco account. When I had problems with it I tried to exchange it but her membership lapsed. They had us pay to get the membership reinstated and they exchanged the treadmill. YMMV.
Sams Club is the same way, if you are no longer a member, you do not get the satisfaction gaurantee anymore.

Anyone know if the Costco extended warranty remains in effect if you choose not to renew your membership after purchasing the laptop?

I have the surface pro 6. The i5 has passive cooling so no fans and is near silent except for "electronic noise" which is very subtle. If you use the pen and tablet mode, I think it's the best form factor. It will only have 8GB of ram for that spec. The biggest thing I don't like is the kickstand when I'm using it in bed. It's uncomfortable as it digs into my leg. My SP6 is not my main laptop. I just use it for light tasks or if I need something to do real quick. Battery life is great... again for light stuff like web surfing, Ms Office. I've done some virtualization and web development on it and it's capable. I still reach for a "regular" laptop as a daily driver. I have a MacBook Pro 2016.
Thank you for replying. I had 2 in 1 envy and I did use it for some gaming end up, the cpu getting to hot and it gotten loose from the motherboard and it stop working. The Surface Pro 7, can it install programs and runs normal daily task? What about the durability compare to this laptop? Thank you again.

Not sure if anyone replied but there is a open SATA bay but requires a hp cable that wasn't included. Heavy? Feels perfect. The Dim 1080p screen is what needs to be upgraded
It's really not that dim unless you use it outdoors or with sun shining onto the screen. One of the first things I did was lower brightness a bit, and it wasn't even on full brightness. My kids have 2 cheap HP Chromebooks with even less brightness, I believe about 215 nits and they're also just fine. All depends on how you use it.

The SP7 like the 6 comes with Windows 10 Home so you can install programs unlike Windows 10S. I've had my SP6 for a year and seems to hold up fine. It's light and very portable. I don't play games on it so I can't tell you how it performs. This HP might be better with gaming but don't expect much.

Laptops coming with 8GB ram in 2020 is ridiculous
95% of all the PC users won't ever need more than a 8GB of RAM. In fact I have 2 PCs at my home running Win 10 with 4GB RAM and everything is running smoothly. Unless you're doing something like movie editing or running a lot of programs at the same time you'll never need more than a 8GB.

Just a heads-up" for those who have already purchased and are benchmarking (Like I am), make sure you bring up the "HP Command Center" and use the "High Performance" setting if you are planning on running benchmarks, AND you are plugged into power. I was in the standard mode and was getting 1990-2040 on Cinebench 20. Now after making the adjustment, I'm seeing about a 15-20% increase @ 2380 score.
Which software do you use to benchmark?

I like to test mine before and after ram upgrades.

Thank you, I always thought the surface is portable so it better as long as you not use using it for gaming. Thank you for the input.

Any way to find the cable to purchase? I have spare small hard drive I can just add to it instead of collecting dust.

I updated the drivers because I kept dropping connections from my basement. I have no connection issues with my Roku in the basement. Now I have reconnection issues after sleeping but it could have been there already.

I bought the Lenovo Flex 5 w Ryzen 7 from Costco few days ago. After using it for a few days, there were constant wifi issues. In some cases it won't even connect to wifi, while two other laptops sitting right next to it had no issues. Returned it, going to give this one a try.
