It's possible these machines are similar/the same. It seems like there are hundreds of brands made by like 3 manufacturers. I think Midea is a manufacturer and they make some Danby stuff.
BTW, the Danby at Costco has a built in pump. I don't see this Midea has a pump so the Dsndy could be a huge bonus for those that need to drain in a sink or something.

In my experience all dehumidifiers break within 3 years, my last Midea lasted 2 years and was replaced under warranty and the replacement died 2 years after that. This time I got an extended warranty. If anyone knows of a dehumidifer that lasts more than a few years I'd love to hear about it. And it seems most of the brands sold these days are the same manufacturer, they probably figure they get a bad name and people are looking for a new brand to try.
We have one that was in our house when we bought it, and it still works but is crazy loud and i want to see how well the new one performs.
edit: after transport it is supposed to stand upright for 6 hours before plugging it in, so I guess I will be trying it out tonight.

The Costco unit seems to suffer a simular fate.
First time buyer for a dehumidifier...
Any suggestion on better quality units, even if they cost more?

They pretty much all suck these days. Buy the cheapest one you can find. I just bought the Costco ones. Hard to find anything in modern 50 pint (same as older 70 pint rating) for $130. My unit just replaced a Hisense I bought at Lowes in 2014 and my Moms replaced her Frigidaire she bought in 2017. I suppose the Hisense lasting 6 years is outstanding these days.

Well if that's the case I better start looking for a new dehumidifier, I've had my frigidaire for 2+ years now running close to non stop since I got it.
Regarding the pump, it is optional to use. So if I am using simple drain / just the bucket fill, where the pump is not working, will the whole unit still stop working if for whatever reason the pump fails?
