Seriously. I've been super eager for a price cut on the oasis, Amazon does a 20% discount for a trade in and my wife would love one. Annoying it hasn't happened since Black Friday.
The oasis seems to be a better more modern product with little features like auto adjust lighting and page turn buttons which are nice, it has a battery notch and the rest of the device is amazingly thin. If you want the best, oasis is better, but not perfect and for me it would not be worth the 2-3x extra for what it delivers.
200 for an oasis is a solid price if that's what you are in the market for.

Seems like I should hold on to the paper white for now. Hopefully amazon runs a promotion on the new one, sucks they delayed prime day.

Also, a lot of people complain that the battery life of the oasis is pretty bad compared to the paperwhite. YMMV

Not to disparage, just making the point that they have put considerable thought into making the lighting as non disruptive as possible. Obviously a lot of people wanted the color temp options, which is why they added it to their now flagship offering. Recent studies seem to suggest that overall brightness is more important than color temperature anyway, but again, it's up to your own personal preferences. Many studies showed a statistically significant reduction in sleep hormones regardless of the hue.
LRC applied four different conditions over four nights. It reported "significant" melatonin suppression on three different nights, including the night when the young adults used their iPads on warm (2837K), as well as the night they switched on the cold (5997K) setting.
"There was no significant difference between the effectiveness of the two Night Shift settings," LRC stated.

Best I found was a deal for it at $200 with the 20% off coupon for a trade in. I got one for my wife for $142 total.
