Nothing but problems with this router. The 2.4 band keep dropping all the time. https://community.tp-link.com/us/...530?page=1 Maybe it's been fixed who knows but my netgear nighthawk r8500 has been rock solid compared to this. Sure it's discontinued but you can find it around the same price.

Seems like a decent deal for those who missed the A20 Amazon deal. I haven't otherwise heard much of this tier. Different cpu in the v2 or why is that important?

This looks good. I switched to the C4000 a month back and have been happy. After Netgear support being such a disaster and their firmware rendering my R7960P unusable I will never go back to Netgear. I opened a case with them and 3 month of back and forth and they still refused to admit that their firmware broke the router. Prior to the update the Netgear was solid. After the update the unit would drop devices at random refused to downgrade the firmware. I even had their support offer to load a different model firmware when that failed they stopped offering any more support and refused to swap it with another unit.

i used to have this router before switching to orbi, it's pretty good for high speeds, but the range isn't the best, also not dd-wrt compatible

Got this one at Christmas and I've had no problems with it on either channels dropping anything. A week ago we got a firmware update and it's even better and quicker now. Speed increased like 15% ish

Which router and which firmware are you referring to? Last firmware update for the c5400 v2 was last year.

I think tp link has QC issues, because ive also had a brand new one that drops 5ghz all the time. Not to mention range is like 50% of my Asus router. Routers in general feel like they're hit or miss, but I would not buy or recommend tp link to anyone.

Do these support dd-wrt? If so, it's a solid buy...
