ZTE is no flagship killer. I have bought couple of their phones in the past. They are definitely ok as a backup but their camera has always been lacking, are heavier mostly and their bloatware is heavy.

Last one I owned was the ZTE Axon Pro and it was a fantastic phone for under $500. Nicest phone for the money until I got the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, which is still my favorite phone I've ever owned to this day. The Axon Pro was better than my Samsung Note 5, better than the IPhone IMO. All metal build, a dedicated DAC for awesome audio, OLED screen... It was a tremendous value for the price.
I tried the Galaxy S20 Plus and the battery life just sucks. My 18 month old Huawei Mate 20 lasts longer on a charge despite having the smaller battery and only marginally smaller screen. Samsung is just inefficient it seems. Huawei no longer has Google app support, otherwise that would be my top choice. Thinking of giving the Oneplus 8 a try with the T Mobile $350 off for adding a line deal.

This is de facto a BYOD, Bring Your Own Device.
Unlock should be through a preloaded app, and should be done without any aggravation.
