- Most mixers that are 5 or 6 quart holders will have metal gears, giving you a longer lasting experience, but if the deal is good enough plastic is great. These things are heavy and very sturdy.
- Some people hate the newer design because it was much easier to add ingredients with the easy tilt head on older models.
- Smaller batches (think really small) tend to not mix as well on the lift stands, but other than that they are fine.
- There are ALOT of these being resold on facebook marketplace. Most people want 180 it seems (Portland, Oregon), but I managed to wait a month and get one for 90 bucks.
- If you want to grind meats, make sausages, or create the gordon ramsey burger that uses multiple meats (add frozen shredded butter in your meat too). Get the amazon 3rd party attachment (it was 40ish bucks) and not the official one as it is far cheaper and has better reviews.
- Google Reddit Grandmas Lemon Bars for the best lemon bar recipe ever, but add in half a lemon worth of zest to the filling, and use tinfoil or parchment paper. Also butter tastes better than margarine and creaming the dough means to run it until its creamy in texture (takes a few minutes).
- Ice cream maker attachment works fine, but a cheap solo one you can get off amazon is just as good.
- Pasta maker is amazing and rated one of the best out there.

P.S. I have called my local Costco and they said they don't expect these any time soon, but different case for you, I live in UT

The mailer I received makes it seem like both online and in store for the same price. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow I've been meaning to buy my wife one of these and I need to go to costco anyways.
Thank you for your reply, but how you would let me know by tomorrow?

And I recommend doing exactly that as few months ago once this mixer went on sale it got sold out instantly including online. Last sale was for 249, so this is a better deal!

- Tilt head vs bowl lift its not old vs new design. KA always had bowl tilt models but these were more professional level and significantly more expensive. Adding ingredients is very similar actually is you lift down the bowl.
- I have 6 qt model from Costco and have no problem mixing 1 (ONE) egg. All you need to do is to confirm your paddle is set at the right level/ clearance. My KA from Costco didn't come with correct setting but quick dime (this is important!) test helped me fix that and boom, small batches are done in 6 qt with no issue! To do the test you need to add nickle, turn on paddle on lowest speed and see what's happening with the dime. It should be move little by little. If your paddle is not touching/ moving the coin - it needs to be lowered. If your coin is frying around - it's too low and you need to adjust it up. To do the adjustment you need to lower the bowl and you will see the screw on the mixer leg. Rotate it 1/4 of the turn using flathead screwdriver. One direction is lowering it and another is making it higher. Once adjusted - repeat the test and adjust again as needed. Do not adjust for more than 1/4 turn as the time. My KA from Costco came in with the paddle sitting too high by default. I suspect it's common practice for KA.
- Do not get amazon 3rd party attachments. Especially for meet grinders. Total garbage. I wasted so much money on these when bought based on obviously sponsored/fake reviews. The knives kept sharp for few weeks only with no way to resharpen it. Most parts either turned dark or rusted. The piece that is getting installed into KA mixer bended over time so other actual KA attachments were not fitting as easily after that (and KA exchanged that mixer as it was still within the warranty period and I am glad they did as usage of 3rd party attachments voids the warranty...). There was a deal for KA brand meet grinder for 56-60 bucks few months ago and I am sure it will be avail again, I would rather wait and get this one as in comparison to some 3rd party ones it;s like day and night.
