Have a wired alarm system? Make it smart with Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit ā€“ a wired-to-wireless bridge that conveniently connects your existing hardwired contact sensors to your Ring Alarm system. Requires Ring Alarm Base Station.

$149.99 is $50 cheaper than lowest price according to CCC and it's the first time I've seen this on sale.

EXPIRES TODAY 6/21 at 9PM PST QA Update: Still available 7/21

Just installed the ring system with retrofit kit. Installation was pretty simple and straight forward. Only thing I wished for was hardwire plug with backup battery instead of running solely on AA batteries.
Came to $135 plus tax after the 10% discount for having a Ring Plus subscription. If you are buying this and don't already have the plus subscription sign up for it first.
That is how wired security panels work afaik. We would know which zone is triggered and not the individual contact sensor if there are multiple sensors connected to a single zone. It is very common to have multiple contact sensors in a single zone. What I did was to logically separate them for easy ID, like downstairs windows are all one zone.

I have this hooked up to my pre existing security system Napco Gemini and it works perfect.
So i need this to retrofit the old existing alarm system, but i also need a ring security kit (base station, sensors, etc)? it says it requires the base station, which can only be purchased with a security system kit.

Yes. The retrofit system is used to connect your hardwired previous alarm system to Rings Alarm base station. I used both to connect to the wired system (doors, windows, etc) that were built into the house so when those sensors go off the ring system knows. So this whole system replaces your previous system. I took off the old keypad and put the ring keypad there. I have the base station currently in mu kitchen because I haven't figured out where I want to put it yet but its what make the sounds for windows/doors opening and when the alarm is triggered. (its loud, i know by testing it). I just bought the 5 piece set since its the cheapest and didn't use any of the sensors it came with since I already have them built into the house. Hopefully this helps. I was confused also when purchasing all this and took me awhile to figure it out, so let me know if you have other questions.

The Retro fit WILL NOT WORK without the base station, just to be clear.

I bought by ring retrofit kit (along with 5 piece alarm kit) for $376 back on 5/20. That bundle dropped in price by $56 to $320 (along with this price drop) so I called ring about a price match. Turns out their price match policy is only 30 days from the order date, not the ship or receive date. Because I was outside 30 days of the order date, they would not price match it, but I was still within the return period which is based off received date (5/26) . I really didn't want the hassle of returning and rebuying so I asked for other compensation. They gave me 1 free year of monitoring by extending my 30 day trail (which was about to expire) for another 12 months. So this basically saved me $100. Thanks and repped OP.

FWIW, all my existing doors and windows were already wired with sensors too, so I used the contact sensor in the 5 piece kit on one of my garage doors. I made it a primary door so it has an entrance delay, but that way our alarm will be triggered if someone opens our garage door by an inch or two. Looking to get another door sensor to use on the 2nd garage door so both are covered. I used my motion sensor in another room where there was none before.

If u have ADT and planning to retrofit this and then cancel ADT, you are out of luck. If u cancel ADT, they deactivate the whole system remotely even though technically, you already own it.

I was with ADT for 15 years...my bill went from $19.99 to $54/month. I purchased the whole Ring system from Costco ($149 special 2 months ago). Installed and activated.

Cancelled ADT (which was another issue as they kept giving me the run around between different departments). After 2 weeks of cancellation, my ADT panel went "blank". I'm already using Ring but was surprised that ADT renders the whole alarm useless and u cant even use it in offline mode.

Lastly, if u work in healthcare, u get extra 30%on top of the subscription discount. I just purchased the outdoor Solar Cam and was able to stack both discounts.

When canceling ADT, you should have disconnected the signal (phone, cell, etc.) from their panel so they can't force a disconnect update. This is only useful if you still want to use the old panel for self monitoring. The ADT contact sensors should still work just fine with the ring retrofit kit even after ADT forced the disable update.

I think most traditional alarm companies do this. Though you should have at least been able to hear a door/window open chime. If they even killed that, then I guess they send some OTA update to the panel?

My ADT bill kept going up, and my system was 10+ years old. I already had Ring cameras, so got the Alarm recently. I didn't have an issue canceling ADT. I disconnected the cellular unit. I still have power from the ADT box to the control panel, the box also powers the old motion sensor (which is connected to Ring but I had to name it "Motion" as Ring treats it like a door or window). I used a 12V to 5V Step Down Converter w/ Micro USB and I hardwired my Ring keypad to the same location as my old system's keypad mounted on the wall. No regrets so far. Only that I paid $200 for the retrofit kit Mad

Did the same setup. There is a YouTube video on which converter to use and how to connect it.

So I kept my old keypads in place and powered because right after I powered the old panel back on, I needed them to bypass the open zones that I removed from the old panel. I fear that if the power goes out or if backup battery goes bad then the old panel will start beeping again until I bypass the old zones.

Also, I figured the old keypads would be needed to silence any alarms sounded by the old fire sensors still connected to the old panel.

I'm a ring fan, I have one of their alarms but this integration was very poorly executed. You are better off going with one of several "smart" adapters for your existing hardwired system.

Can you please link some that work so I can research dhat option thank you.

I have used this with my old ADT 15-p panel. No monthly fees but wife and I receive notice if it's armed or disarmed, set off ect. Nice to know when the kids get home and verify they set the alarm after entering. We can set it remotely from our phones and even arm it with Alexa. It also can be integrated with SmartThings with some effort.

The Ring Retrofit Kit only works with wired sensors. It won't work with wireless sensors, unless they have the capability to be wired. So no, it won't work.
