Have a wired alarm system? Make it smart with Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit – a wired-to-wireless bridge that conveniently connects your existing hardwired contact sensors to your Ring Alarm system. Requires Ring Alarm Base Station.
$149.99 is $50 cheaper than lowest price according to CCC and it's the first time I've seen this on sale.
EXPIRES TODAY 6/21 at 9PM PST QA Update: Still available 7/21
Just installed the ring system with retrofit kit. Installation was pretty simple and straight forward. Only thing I wished for was hardwire plug with backup battery instead of running solely on AA batteries.
Came to $135 plus tax after the 10% discount for having a Ring Plus subscription. If you are buying this and don't already have the plus subscription sign up for it first.
That is how wired security panels work afaik. We would know which zone is triggered and not the individual contact sensor if there are multiple sensors connected to a single zone. It is very common to have multiple contact sensors in a single zone. What I did was to logically separate them for easy ID, like downstairs windows are all one zone.

Will it work with existing ADT wired system? My existing system beeps whenever doors and windows are opened. I have ring plus plan.
It will not beep same way, since what beeps is your keypad, and this just connects your alarm zones.
However anytime your zone is triggered you will get notification on your phone.
I installed 2 of these a couple months ago into my 14 zone system. Just be deliberate in following the step-by-step instructions and you should be good to go. I was able to also wire in 2 4-wire motion sensors as zones by keeping the old box for power wires but running the sensor wires to the Retrofit kit - works fine - you just have to call them "doors" or "windows" in the setup, but then name them something else so you know what they are.
My old alarm panel is still installed because my home was wired with low-voltage smoke detectors and I did not add those to the Retrofit kit. It would be theoretically possible to do so, but the smoke detectors would behave like doors or windows and not as smoke detectors in the Ring App, which is less than ideal.
It's also nice because you can create Alexa routines for your various zones just like you could with the regular Ring hardware.
As another user pointed out, it is extremely common to have multiple windows on 1 loop/zone in a hardwired setup, so you will know which set of windows is open via the app, but not the exact specific window that is open.
Is it possible to still keep fire/glass breaking in the old system on and switch door/window contact sensor to this new system? I don't want lose the full capability of old system.
Anyone know if this is able to work with Smartthings? I am pretty sure I know the answer already, but thought I'd ask. If not, know a system like this that would work? I have a hardwired system that is about 5 yrs old from when the house was built. Also heavily invested in Smartthings. When we leave house, we use hardwired keypad to arm the "old" system and let smartthings arm the "smart" alarm. I'd love to have the "old" integrated with Smartthings as it covers some areas that I have yet to buy sensors for.
If you take apart whatever brand wireless door sensors you have you can solder the wires for the hardwire sensors to it. You'll probably want to use a powered relay since resistance for the hardwire sensors are too much for the wireless sensors.

I have one of their kits I never used. Let me know if you are interested.
I'm a ring fan, I have one of their alarms but this integration was very poorly executed. You are better off going with one of several "smart" adapters for your existing hardwired system.

I was going to post this as well. If you don't want to be tied to a subscription plan, I suggest this. I'm waiting for the pro version to run with home assistant.
I went all in on the ring system on my new house. I have 3 POE cameras, the doorbell and the alarm system + retro fit. Figured out it would pay for itself after 2 years. Normal alarm system companies want $35-$55 per month for service. Ring is $100 per year. This also includes all cloud saves for my cameras. Also you can set the alarm system up to turn cameras on/off etc when it goes off. Like other people have mentioned I wish the retrofit system didn't run off batteries but after 6 months of use it still shows full battery. Their faq says it can last 5 years so we will see. I'm happy with the system. I can do everything from my phone.

Pretty much my experience but I installed 1 of these as my home was wired with 23 door/window sensors in 7 zones so the 8 zones was enough for me. I attempted to combine a couple of zones that only had 1-2 windows each and also split apart 1 zone that had 8 sensors in it; however, that caused more trouble than it was worth probably due to wiring issues behind the walls or the resistors. So I just went with the same 7 zones as wired with the old panel and they worked fine with the retrofit kit. Added 1 motion sensor that's still connected to the old panel for power and also left the fire sensor connected to and powered by the old panel just as you did.
Then I added 3 ring motion sensors in other areas that the old system didn't have motion detectors. Overall pretty happen to have every door/window connected.
Apologies in advance if this was already answered, just want to try to get a definitive answer before buying. I just moved into a new house that has an existing system that is monitored by ADT and paid for by HOA. I also have a 10 piece Ring security system that I purchased last year that I would like to use to supplement the existing alarm (limited to just a few POE). Will the Retrofit kit allow me to combine the Ring system and the existing system and will I be able to maintain ADT monitoring?

The ring retrofit kit is designed to allow you to bring your ADT ( normally Closed ) sensors and monitor them with Ring. It does not allow you to add ring sensors to your ADT, if that is what you were asking. When you bring them over to the retrofit kit, they will no longer be a part of the ADT system.

Thank you, answered my questions perfectly. Appreciate the help!
