At least on UHD, the increase in image quality is substantial. I don't know if the same jump will be seen from HD/HDX to 4k/UHD streaming format, but if so it's well worth the $5. Here's a comparison:

To me it just looks like they farked around with the colors/contrast/etc

Unfortunately the notorious film quality cannot change but at least it gets the nostalgia points
