I think there may be a read/write difference between them

Hmm. Benchmarks looks the same. Only difference besides 10GB that I can find is released a month apart from each other.

I've been skeptical with the cheap SSDs due to one failing after a few weeks; where did you find the benchmarks? (Sometimes it's a ploy to get away from poor reviews)

I had to look each of them up separately. I wouldn't get it though as Crucial MX500 with DRAM is available for similar price. Just wanted to mention the extra 10GB for an extra buck.

"similar price", "a few dollars more" on forums usually means not really in the same price range, haha. Especially when you get into the lower $$ in which the same $ price difference accounts for a larger % difference.

The CS900 is the only model I've seen sell both 240/250 and 480/500 variants. I'm wondering if they're simply reserving more GB for overprovisioning to compete at all storage capacity levels (i.e. they don't want to miss out on a sale because someone only searched for 240gb SSD and not 250gb ssd).

Yup, I bet it's overprovisioning. These capacities fall into distinct categories, e.g. 120GB/128GB, 240GB/250GB/256GB, 480GB/500GB/512GB, 960GB/1TB, etc.

Question then is: is the 240GB variant supposed to be 10GB more durable than the 250GB variant, or does it simply compensate for defects (i.e. binning)? I'd imagine it's the latter.

Looking at the 500GB version but at $55, I might just wait for WD

My concern is reliability and then warranty. But looking for under $50ish.
