Hello everyone,
One of the most talked laptops in CES 2020 back again.
I posted the last deal and it went oos in 8 hours last time.
SD moderators mostly edit our first post how ever they want so I won't lose time adding bunch of info which eventually will be removed. So I'm adding additional info to here.
Wiki added for specs.
This one initially modified version of i7 slim 7 model. Comes with low voltage, high performance ram and 300 nits glossy screen. It's better than cheaper IdeaPad 5 and flex 5 models in terms of built quality and heat management.
Also this one is prototype Ryzen 7 4700u model which you first saw benchmark results on the net. Because of good thermals it perform very well.
As I said you can buy 16gb flex 5 or 15.6" IdeaPad 5 8gb much cheaper than this but you are paying extra $100 to $200 for better ram, screen and built quality.
Since everything is soldered you should buy 2-3 year extra warranty which is a reasonable price to protect yourself.
I'm ready for your questions about this laptop or AMD Renoir models in general.
If you wanna wait a little longer, here are the upcoming models:
● ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 (AMD)
● ThinkPad E15 Gen 2 (AMD)
● ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 (AMD)
● ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 (AMD)
● ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 (AMD)
It comes with 4800u and 16gb ram in EU and Asian market but Lenovo couldn't be able to import it to USA yet, covid19 and trade war slows down laptop release dates. Because of this EU is getting newer models before USA for the first time in history. Also eluktronics still couldn't be able to release their rp 15 series because of similar reasons. All other markets can buy Tongfeng Renoir designs right now.
Are they ever going to release a 16gb version? I'd love to get one of these, but I'm one of those pesky people who actually NEEDS 16gb. Otherwise I'm going to have to stick with the HP Envy x360 Costco deal.

According to psref no they won't. Probably they are having issues with customs cos they are way behind their release schedule. HP envy x360 4500u is good but 4700u has thermal problems. ProBook is a little bit better in terms of cooling solution but it doesn't look sexy as much like others.

Thanks very much for the response. It's too bad we couldn't have gotten these Ryzens in 2019 before this all went down, haha. I could be chilling in quarantine with a Lenovo Slim 7 w/ 16gb and a 4800u. Really would have liked to have that screen especially. Oh well, I'm still happy with a 4500u and 16gb for $400 less, I suppose. I'll put that $400 toward buying my Ryzen 8000 in 2024.
