Just came in to say this kreg jig sucks ass. Most kreg stuff is awesome, this one sucks. It moves on you when you are cutting, the set screws don't stay in...it's terrible. Make your own and clamp it down.

Cuts up to 100" so it's big enough to put clean edges on a full 4' x 8' sheet of plywood. Amazon, Home Depot and Kreg sell the main track for $159.99 normally. Right now Amazon has this combo selling for $159.99 so this price of $129.99 looks like a good deal. If you've ever seen a video on how to use it the jig is pretty slick. It has a grippy bottom and doesn't need to be clamped down. Since circular saws cut up through the bottom of wood, tear out normally happened on top, however this product acts like a zero clearance insert in a table saw to minimize that tear out. If money is an issue, I recommend checking out a few videos on DIY tracks to use with circular saws. If high precision is important this is a good way to go.

I bought this thing but can't stand it. I made one similar to the one in the video but I used Micro Jig dovetail clamps to hold it down. I should have done it a long time ago.

im just getting into woodworking, looking for input from those more experienced. could this system replace a lot of things a table saw could be used for? I have a seperate miter saw already.

I always wanted one of these, now i am in the process of making a desk out of 2x6s but dont have a jointer, is it possible to cut joint edges with these?

A jointer simply makes a straight edge on one side that you then put against the fence on a table saw to make the other side parallel.

You can do the same with any straight edge or even chalk line with most any saw... if you can stay on the line, or just off it to then hand plane. That is how the old timers used a hand plane to bring the edge to the line and smooth. Then saw the other side parallel and do same.

Look on Craigslist or Marketplace and find a cheap jointer for less than a $100. You could go through the pile at the lumberyard and find straight boards. Trouble is, they will all have slightly rounded edges that you need to plane down to get rid of. Many lumberyards will cut for you... I was in Lowes last night and they had a nice set up for cutting, but not all do.

In conclusion, can you use this? Sure, if you can figure out how to mount on a 2 x 6.

The diy one is assembled once. The kreg would be more portable.

Some reviews of their regular length track @hd are not favorable (mentions lack of accuracy, only good for rough breakdown). If thats true, just use a 8' level or a 8'strip of 1/2" ply, cheaper for same purpose.

Just want to say I purchased this and the kreg pocket screw J5 to build my kids some beds. While I would 100% recommend the pocket hole jig this track is a POS. I ended up using my level and clamps for a straight edge on the plywood. IMO, do the dyi track mentioned in this thread or do what I did with clamps and a level.
