Great deal for a 1TB SSD. Amazon's deal of the day today. Lowest price in the last 7 months.

Because SSD prices are driven by the price of NAND. The NAND market is very strong right now with high demand. This demand means the price of NAND stays high which means products that primarily use NAND (SSDs) will also remain high.

The market is extremely cyclical so a few quarters back I was able to pick up a 1TB 860 Evo for like $90 (granted that was a black friday deal and had an amex offer, without the offer it would have been like $110 or $120) and now the QVO using QLC NAND is $99 as a "deal".

It sucks if you're trying to buy something right now but on the longer trend SSDs are getting cheaper, it can just be hard to see since consumers generally aren't waiting several quarters to build their computer and aren't constantly doing research on parts and trends.
The full description makes it clear they screwed up and used the description for a memory card instead.
From Samsung website

860 QVO SATA 2.5 inch SSD 1TB (MZ-76Q1T0BW)
Samsung V-NAND technology
Up to 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write speeds
Up to 1,440 TBW or 3-year limited warranty
AES 256-bit Encryption (Class 0),TCG/Opal, IEEE1667 (Encrypted drive)

This is a med tier SSD (similar to WD BLUE), which means below top tier (EVO, WD black).
I think it is a good deal if you think saving $20 is a deal.

"Ultra-Fast Read Write Speeds: Up to 100MB/S Read and 90MB/S Write Speeds"

Wow. You can get a 5TB spinner now for the same price.

I wonder if pcpartpicker is accurate in showing that amazon had the 1tb 970 pro for around $280? I sure never saw it for that and samsung usually won't let someone sell it for much less than their own price. Even though it's dumb to spend so much, I may even wait for the 980 pro... I just hate the idea of having pcie 43 if I won't use it at its best.

Samsung Evo 860 for a hundred bucks. Been seeing a lot of deals for a TB of SSD storage going at $120, so I figured it was worth making my first ever post.

We have some hopeful EVO dreamers in this thread.

This is a good drive at currently a good price point. It's major strength is Samsung Quality, it should be dependable. It's major weakness is that it is only medium in the speed category. Still, it is a ton faster than any mechanical hard drive, but it is not an EVO.

To anyone that can find a 1 TB 860 EVO at this price... I will Rep over and over again for the next 6 months.
