I own this. Bought about 4 years ago - has held up well.

I have only camped in it 5-6 times. What I bought it for and my primary use is as a blind for shooting nature photography. I'll set it up - hang out inside and soon the wildlife don't notice it is there at all and I can take my photos in comfort and get very close...
I have an XL model of this. I use it for car camping and music festivals. It is not a replacement for hiking gear.

Airflow is very good with the flaps open, which is great for summer months. The netting is quality. The sealing is very good also and I haven't had any leaks in the rain.

Perks over tent are that it sets up and breaks down quick, it's an all-in-one solution (if it's practical to get to your destination), and it is more comfortable than ground or traditional cots.

This is a quality product and I believe it is worth the price if you have the application to use it.
Not at 24lbs, you might need mommy to help carry it

I'm not sure what to say! I guess if you camp alone, and you have a short walk to your spot, this is a pretty great idea. But maybe for $40-70...But if you are camping alone, perhaps youhave no one else to take care of and can splurge on yourself.

I go camping with friends and use my own tent. I like my friends but I don't want to sleep right next to them. I've actually considered something like this as I have a bad back so it would be nice to not be on the ground. That said, I do wish it was a touch cheaper...

"Hiking" bed? That's a funny description, especially at 24lbs. IMO, this bed will never replace a tent with a cot or thick air mattress.

I was trying to figure out who could possibly use this since it's too heavy for use in backpacking, and if you're car camping, why not just bring any tent and add a cot inside. Conundrum solved -- thanks! Smilie

I could see this being good for motorcycle camping.

Way to big to use on the motorcycle. Just stick to backpacking gear for that.

Possible use cases: military, wildland firefighters, and other disaster response workers. These groups often have to sleep on cots in large open areas (school gyms, convention centers, etc) during emergency responses. Having the tent component adds a bit of privacy and noise/light dampening. This helps a lot when folks are constantly coming and going due to shift work.

If you have a bad back a cot is not a great idea.

If you have a bad back you probably don't want to toting an extra 24 pounds on it...just sayin
