I absolutely love this movie. Embarrassed to say I just watched it for the first time a couple of years ago but it is my go to movie when I can't find anything else to watch. I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have survived that War!

Great movie, shame it isn't movies anywhere compatible. I've got a handful that are like that stuck on Prime, Fandango and Apple. 🤷🏼 ♂️

Can someone do a breakdown on the different cuts? Is this the best one? I remember seeing this movie for the first time 15 years or so ago with the "Redux" version. Is this an even better cut?

Maybe I am just not a movie buff but this movie is bizarre. Like there doesn't seem to be a clear narrative throughout. I am pretty sure you can stream it for free on prime now. It goes in and out of free streaming services often. Maybe it is on Hulu now.

Anyway, the movie is worth a watch, but it is unlike any other war movie that I have seen with real character development. Like I said, maybe this post will piss some people off, and I am not a movie buff, but the scenes of the movie almost seem to be unrelated to each other. Like it is a bunch of short films mildly related.

I think redux is the longest and this one cuts out some of that French plantation stuff and is maybe three instead of four hours

Final cut removes about 20 minutes of content that was added to redux ( I think redux was 49 or 50 minutes added from the original release)
