What will you be using this laptop for? Have you looked into a MacBook Air or Pro 13?

Loved this MacBook. Only issue is if you game on boot camp. It's a dumpster fire. The 16" screen has aspect ratio issues that will constantly having you banging your head into the wall.

It is probably a better idea to hold off till the new processor comes out. Depending on when that happens in 2021 the OS will be optimized for the new chipset and Intel chipsets will begin using the emulator Rosetta2. If this follows the PowerPC to Intel processor path the OS may work on older chipsets for another two upgrades. Perhaps 10.17 & 10.18 but probably not much further before the emulator is removed?

I'm using a mid 2012 MacBook Pro that originally came with 10.7.3. It probably will not work with 10.16 from what I have read but I did get to 10.15. Thats 8 upgrades. Will you be happy if you only get 2-3 upgrades?

You understand Apple isn't going to stop using intel chipsets for a minimum of 2 more years, right? And that after Apple shifted from PowerPC, they still supported it for 6 more years? Also- the current beta build isn't 10.16, but 11.0

Apple PowerBook G4 1.67 17" (DLSD/HR - Al) discontinued April 24, 2006 shipped with OS Tiger 10.4.2. Maximum OS this Mac supports is Leopard 10.5.8. Snow Leopard, OS 10.6 released August 28 2009 no longer supported PowerPC.

Discontinued doesn't mean it wasn't discounted because there were likely many still available in the channels. The point is within about 3 years +/- this Mac could no longer accept OS upgrades, just updates if available.

Yes I have seen that the next OS will be called 11.0, I guess you feel you need to be nit-picky, the current beta downloads as macOS_10.16 build 20A4299.

Just purchased this a month ago on sale at AAFES for $2599. Tried to Price Match but it was outside of the 14-day window. At least I didn't have to pay taxes I guess.
