Apart from the frame rate there's an issue with poorly made games in the Unreal engine where any model that goes ragdoll has several of its points stretch to obscene limits and when it happens it drags the performance down drastically. The Flying Edge (one of my favorite weapons) also causes performance issues on some screens where it's trailing effect covers far too much of the screen and drags framerate down to the single digits. The little animation that plays above Miriam's head when she levels up can also cause slowdown.
I really don't want to seem like I hate the Switch port. It works. You can play through the game, but it is a disappointingly inferior way to do it. A better port should have been very doable on the Switch which runs Doom (2016) and Divinity: Original Sin II much better than it does Bloodstained, which is a much less demanding game. But I've been playing exclusively in handheld mode and maybe these issues are less frequent with the power boost you get in docked mode?
I just happen to think that if this is going to be your first time with Bloodstained it'll make a much better impression on any other platform.

I thought the switch version was fixed by an update. Is that not true?
Someone else, but I played it quite a few months back and didn't notice any real issues (player it handheld).
For $20 on the Switch, I'd definitely recommend it.
