Eero works as a Mesh network (similar to what companies often use for their big buildings). Instead of having one specific location that broadcasts the signal, you have several smaller systems that interact with each other, capturing each other's signal and broadcasting them from there.

With that said, you only need an ethernet cable for the main one which connects to your modem, while the rest can just be plugged in and work from there.

I like to think of it as if someone is standing next to your downstairs modem with a speakerphone trying to speak loud enough for someone upstairs to hear them. Instead of getting a louder speakerphone and blasting it everywhere, you can just talk to someone who's standing on the stairs who then talks to the person standing upstairs.

This is an incredibly effective way of eliminating dead zones.
Would have jumped on it if it was tri band... unless anyone has good arguments to replace my 2 pack Orbi RBK22 with these?
