Looks like a decent cheap/starter set. 19.99 on Amazon [amazon.com] with 4.1 stars on 19 reviews, with a Fakespot grade of C. The camel has the lowest price at 15.19.
I'll probably buy a set at this price for our daughter who's moving into her own place.

Do yourself a bigger favor and wait for the next deal on the victorinox chef knife. They can be had for ~$28 pretty regularly. I agree it is a good all around knife, but the $28 deal comes around so often that people might as well keep an eye out for it.

I have been seeing a lot of people using and recommending Global knives, where do they rank on the hierarchy of knives, better yet what is the hierarchy of knives?

Knives are very much a personal preference. My personal experience with Shun has been spectacular but they come at premium. Holds the edge great and feels great in my hand. It may not be the same for you - you might like Global, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels, or Wüsthof better. These are just some of the top brands that come to mind - I am sure there are more.

Brands have different lines of knives as well. Shun has several and even within the same line, knives can have a different edge angle (16° or 22°). The larger angle lets you cut tougher things better like squash without damaging the edge.

Some use arguably better steel than others but it is a balance. The harder the steel, the better it keeps it's edge but is harder to sharpen and prone to chipping. The softer the steel, the faster the edge wears but it easier to sharpen. You can get a Victorinox 8" Chef knife for around $30 on a sale and its a decent knife. All knives will require sharpening at some point. Always use a wood or plastic cutting board and hand wash only.
