As another responder mentioned, the MyBooks have encryption, and as a result, a slightly different model number. The Essentials/Easystore is/was WB100EMAZ Helium drives but are changing to WB101EMAZ non-Helium drives. MyBooks, as of a month ago, have WD100EZAZ Helium drives. What this one has though, you'll find out when you open it. Possibly WD101EZAZ (non-Helium) but I haven't seen that one yet.

I have all three of the first ones I mentioned. The WB101EMAZ does run hotter in my Unraid server and it's on the bottom of the stack so there's nothing potentially helping to heat it.

Right now it shows:
Top Parity: WD100EMAZ - 36C
2nd Disk 1: WD100EZAZ - 37C
3rd Disk 2: WD101EMAZ - 42C

And yes, the three drives have a 120mm fan in front of them. I'm considering other means of cooling them as 42C seems a little warm to me.

My guess is this sale is one of two things: Either Newegg and WD are selling out of the old model number, or the opposite in that it may be the new non-helium drives.
FYI best price was 145-150. Not too bad if you need one now but otherwise sit tight
That depends entirely on the PSU in your computer. As mentioned a gazillion times, if your PSU is SATA v3.3 compliant, you can plug & play. If your PSU is not SATA v3.3 compliant then you will need to use one of the workarounds.

It appears WD's max SMR drive size is 6TB. So, I think it's safe to say these could work well in some NAS setups.

oh yea... been using both MyBook, Elements and SATA HDD in hotswap cradle. All WD (esp. the RED and BLACK) perform as advertised (can't say that about some drives by some other high-end competitors).

So MyBook is better than Elements from the other deal, right?

My Book's have the built-in encryption. Easystore's don't.
