What I did was just take a small suction cup and just pull the rear plate off. Otherwise there's no seams that you can really use to take it apart. If the suction cup doesnt grab hold of it, cause its the anodized finish is too slippery, just drop a small droplet of water or rubbing alcohol on the back plate (i used my spit cause i was lazy, ik gross), put the suction cup where the liquid is and it will fill in the air and pull off cleanly.
I'll give that a try! I previously tried unscrewing the screws just a couple threads and then gripping with pliers but that didn't provide enough leverage. I've been stuck with a small test NVMe drive in mine since I got it half a year ago.

Update: That did the trick! The hard part was finding a suction cup in the entire house. I finally took off my car phone mount and used the suction cup on that to pull the cover off.
some mobos only have one nvme slot, this allows you to clone your current drive via usb. if you have nvme's lying around, this is a way to make a superfast usb drive, which is great for os installs.

That being said, I had this device and it disconnected too much both on macOS and Windows at least with my spare Intel 660p. I'm looking to buy one with an RTL9210 chipset.

Does Windows detect any of these as removable/hot-swap? Do I get the eject command?

I got first one year ago. It does get detected normally/has eject option. I don't have others thought but i'd imagine they work fine, but do check the reviews Smilie

I recommend buying a few different brands and testing the data transfer speeds. Some of these external enclosures are slow.
Not sure about the speed of this brand.

Thanks, I'll do some research.

Last time I tried to set one of these up it registered it but wouldn't detect and some files would get corrupted when I pulled it out, hoping this time it'll work in my favor.

sounds good. i actually never experienced one that is not detected. maybe it just glitched with windows that 1 time or was it some ebay purchase?

Between Slickdeals and subreddits for Swapping, I'm pretty much guaranteed a good deal from time to time although the issue with swapping is that you never truly know what you're going to get.

I have the original version. Very well built, and the case acts like a massive heatsink.

Be aware though that if you use a thermal pad as recommended then it is well nigh impossible to take the cover off the enclosure to switch NVMe drives again.

Nice find! Another added bonus is that this comes with a free download of Acronis True Image which retails for about $50.
