Plus stack coupon BRN8B7D for another 10% off.
So 20% off total.

If you have Ticketsatwork or other employee program, it is slightly cheaper additionally.

If you have an older Canon camera or lens you can save an additional 10% through the Canon Loyalty program. Call the 1-800 number to ask about this. You will be required to provide a serial # of the older unit but not be required to send it in

Except the R5/R6 aren't meant to replace the R/RP and both cameras are still in their service life, different cameras for different audiences.
The deal is excellent IMHO, and you are getting a refurbished product - which straight from Canon is typically immaculate - and you get a full year factory warranty, 100% the same as if you were to buy it new.

As a current R owner, but also someone who has been monitoring the used market for Rs (friends were interested after playing with mine + gaining interest on their own to replace or expand on their DSLRs), I would say the used market holds very strong for the R.

At least strong enough to make acquiring a used R not a very wise proposition vs. this refurbs that are checked to be practically new in operation and covered both by 1y warranty and a satisfaction/return warranty.

Sure, tax goes ontop of these prices when you buy from Canon, but in general used prices right now are up there. Very few will jump on cameras with 2-3x the cost and fire-sale their Rs to the extend of saturating the used market -> driving prices down...I am 100% sure used Rs will be snatched relatively fast, as its the case for lenses etc. It is the newest system in the block, and supply in the used market is pretty low, and will stay low. Remember, "R" people are also people that shell serious $ for RF lenses and the such: rarely hurting for a few $100 to discount on their stuff. And if they are going for a new R6/R5, they won't going to bundle sale lots of stuff - which is usually your best bet to get a good start in the R system for "cheaper" (its never cheap).

I would say there are better chances of you getting good deals in mid-range DSLRs, i.e. what ppl be replacing jumping on the MILC / "R" train for the first time, than for used Rs.
Don't confuse mega-pixels with image quality. The 1DX MK III also has a 20MP sensor. Lower pixel count = reduced noise + less processing. The R6 is targeted at prosumers while the R5 is meant for pros.

Unfortunately the r6 put me off the r.. unless you need one now it would be wise to wait. The release of new cameras should reprice the older ones shortly. Also, the price has been lower before.

Don't they Free Ship any more? Looks like $16 for standard shipping anything over $130.

You are right. Personally I'm in no hurry to upgrade from my 70d, so will wait for the inevitable sale on R and RP.

I'm only an enthusiast, so will mostly use EF lenses.

I'm still mad about the T6s deal from last year. Looks like they still have the same crappy website. $16 shipping hurts the deal.

As a landscape shooter, the R6 put me on to the R. Canon dropped the ball by only making it 20mp (and that's the only thing they did wrong with the R6, everything else is perfect). I can't afford the R5 so the R + 24-105mm is for me. I'm sure it will drop in price during black friday / Christmas (like last year) but I now get the rest of summer and fall to use the R.

But a lot of people who have the R, are going to sell it forthe R5/R6. Should lead to a drop in prices, at least used prices.

Yeah the used market is going to be a different ball game, but id imagine new prices wont take a big dive.
