Toki Tori is a very good puzzle game. I remember playing the first one in 3D on my PS3.

Deceptively good games. They look like some garbage mobile games for small children but they're actually the Dark Souls of platforming puzzle games. It's definitely worth picking up both of them for $2.

Not at all. Puzzles can get pretty difficult.

I dabbled in the first one and thought it was fine. Would've been very impressive back on the Gameboy Color. When I played the sequel, maybe it was a case of "right game at the right time" but I was blown away. This game is absolutely brilliant, and does so much with so little. It's very hands off, yet does some light storytelling by "showing" and not "telling," if that makes sense. Great art, great production - one of my all time faves. Absolutely head and shoulders above their final game, RIVE.

I had heard the sequel has some Metroidvania aspects where it's a matter of not acquiring abilities but rather learning how to combine them. For $1.50, I figure might as well give it a go.

I don't recommend it. As an adult, it's a little fun, but then gets REALLY difficult really quickly. The puzzle elements aren't crazy, but often the solution uses the elements in very non-intuitive way. Probably worth 50¢, but unlikely they'll play the game for hours, or bother going back to it after a single play...

Unfortunately, no. A Switch has to be registered to your Nintendo account before you can purchase digital content for it.

Great games. For the kids comment, it depends on the kid. There's certainly nothing objectionable that I recall.

Toki Tori and Toki Tori 2 are very different games. Toki Tori is level based, 2 is more open explore and solve. Toki Tori is difficult, my kids love it (so do I), but sometimes we had to use the game's wildcards to temporarily skip levels, just to get stuck some at some later level. The puzzles are hard, but rewarding. You may want to come back another day rather than look at a solution. My kids loved the first one, but didn't even play the trial version of the second for the unlocked time. The trial for Toki Tori 2 on PC is open, but time restricted play.
