Awesome find. Thanks!

Decide for yourself. 6 of the first 11 ingredients are peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. Also has lentil fiber. That's a lot.

According to the FDA, the 16 brands most commonly being fed to pets who developed heart problems from 2014–2019 were

Acana (named in 67 reports)
Zignature (64)
Taste of the Wild (53)
4health (32)
Earthborn Holistic (32)
Blue Buffalo (31)
Nature's Domain (29)
Fromm (24)
Merrick (16)
California Natural (15)
Natural Balance (15)
Orijen (12)
Nature's Variety (11)
NutriSource (10)
Nutro (10)
Rachael Ray Nutrish (10)
According to Whole Dog Journal, it's a very good thing. It limits their exposure to any problematic ingredients, gives them a more robust digestial tract, and helps prevent food allergies from developing. Of course if you've feed your dog 1 food for 10 years, have IBD and other issues, switching food might be detrimental, especially if done rapidly. But the average, healthy dog benefits from a rotational diet.
Also feeding them the exact same food everyday isn't so good for them either.

For people who are wondering about this: search for DCM and legumes and potatoes. It is still under investigation by the FDA. Thanks for the list.

I'd definitely jump on this very nice deal myself too, if I didn't find the DCM investigation worrisome.

There's also a 30% S&S coupon (YMMV) if you're eligible, that brings this down to $25.19. Some people might even have a $15 off coupon.

To be clear: It's the grain free versions not regular versions of said list that was provided.

Some people mix grain free and regular.

Consult your vet people.

I got the Paleo in May for $26. Dog does not like it at all. Even if I mix it with other stuff he picks thru it and leaves the Acana. I guess like most healthy food it's not that appetizing. Either that or he knows something I don't.

If you can ever get it "on sale" or when petco has a reset, pick up Blue Buffalo Carnivora. 3 versions. It's the most expensive food out there but 42%+ protein and super quality. Great if you have a very active Golden Retriever or sporting breed. I picked up 22lbs bags for $25 that were normally around $85 to $105 each. 5 star at dogadvisor too. Good luck.

Full disclosure- I purchased this food. We rotate foods so often a few bags of this does not appear to have much risk.

I've also used quite a few of the other grain free manufacturers listed by the FDA and have not experienced any issues.

I hope you realize that switching foods often isn't good for the dog.
