Remember the joy you felt after you heard the modem dial out and make all those squelching sounds as you sucessfully connected to your buddies, only to rage when your mom picked up the phone and killed the connection???
I would be all over this if I didn't already own them. Ignore day 1 reviews of the classic doom ports for Xbox One. The biggest issues, mainly being janked up audio and a 30 fps limitation, has been fixed in subsequent updates. Also, these ports now have limited mod support for publisher tested content like OG Doom Designer John Romero's Sigil and TeamTNT's Plutonia.
Weren't those the days!? I was super excited to get into level creation for Doom! .wad files!!! It was such a cool concept. That and network multi-play! We setup a 10Base-T coax ring in the house and had three computers on it so three people could play! Oh and good old sersetup, the first real "online" play! DEATHMATCH! I'll never forget my buddy whose parents bought a computer running a Pentium 1 100Mhz kicking my butt because the game actually ran faster on his computer than it did on my 486DX2 66Mhz even though I had the faster modem! LMAO What a time we've seen!

The new doom games are fantastic, but man, what I wouldn't give to get that feeling back of experiencing the original doom again.

Dude! We're cut from the same cloth! I remember making custom .wad maps! We used to play 4 players connecting into a BBS on my US Robotics 28.8k... I upgraded from my 14.4k to play! I was a beast and keyboard only player hahaha

Fun fact, the original Doom had support for 3 monitors giving a panoramic pov. It did this by creating a 3 player multilayer game and using the 2 other players as the left and right view.

Oh man what I would give to play some of those DWANGO wads again... Memories!!!

edited: Not too sure why the website is not showing that I own Doom classic and Doom 2 but I know I have purchased them both before. Did they "remake/remaster/re-release" these Doom games as Xbox One (X) versions? I think I purchased them when they were first released on X360.

I had that 66mhz..I think I paid $4,000 for it in a Hewlett Packard system.

I played the crap out of Doom 2, but my all night multiplaying didn't start until Quake 2 w/ SLI Voodoo 2's. Followed shortly by Unreal tournament and Quake 3.

Good times!
