It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.

Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.

LG is tad better on HDR/Movie watching. But Sony is tad better at TV/Sport watching.
(LG 86" size you get IPS instead of VA in that model) so likely very close performance.

So really Color and HDR content will be it's downfall... Good TV for Cable Box / TV viewing, but Movie Watching/HDR will be weak... Not really future proof.

EDIT: This doesn't apply to the 85"

Note: The 85" model has a VA panel, and though we haven't tested it, we'd expect it to look much better in a dark room, but have worse viewing angles.

PROS
Excellent low input lag
Image remains accurate at an angle. CONS
Disappointing contrast ratio.
Bad black uniformity.

Rtings reviewed the smaller version of this TV with IPS edge-lit panel, none of the pros and cons they listed apply to the 85" model. We've been over this many times on SD...

Looking for a 82"+ TV. This or the Samsung RU9000 or Q6DT?
