Can one just print the $60 "coupon", take it to the store and sign up for auto renew then? (and be eligible for the 2 coupons that way)

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.
Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.
Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

Yes. I did this last year at the membership counter. Pay $60. They will try to upsell you every chance they can.
Warranty is valid on same Costco membership only.
Are you able to switch membership between you and your spouse each year with same home address?
Do you know if wife counts as new member if she is secondary on current membership?
Can we cancel the exisiting membership? My membership will end on first week of sept!
What If I cancel the membership and re-take the new membership , will i get the benefit? Do they check the email id? Phone number? Photo? Or Visa card? to prevent as new member?

but...I think when you signup the clerk doing the signup can do things to make you a new member. You might get lucky.

If spouse is not added as complimentary member, can we take new membership then? My concern is will they check home address and cancel if new membership is same from the cancelled one?

Nah. Try Sam's Scan and Go and you'll wonder why you're waiting in line at Costco.
I never spend that much at one time at Sams or anywhere else.
