Nah. Try Sam's Scan and Go and you'll wonder why you're waiting in line at Costco.

According to the fine print, the $40 gift card and $40 off $250 online code are mailed 4-6 weeks after you activate the membership, but they also both expire on Dec 31. Keep that in mind if you plan to wait a while to activate, especially with all of the delays various delivery services have been experiencing lately, which are only likely to worsen as we get closer to Christmas.

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.

Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.

Yes, you have about 11 months to do that.

Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

Can we activate the membership online and start using the membership?
Yes! The first year of your new Costco membership will begin the day the membership is activated on Costco.com.

Okay this is truly a nightmare to do.
It won't let me check the checkbox that says "I have read and acknowledge the Member Privileges & Conditions shown above."
No matter what I do. I click on every single link, I read the entire thing but nothing

Also, I'm being charged taxes on the membership

I too got same issue. I cleared cookies and browsing history and then tried registering again. It went thru second time. I also charged for taxes. I think it depends on state where you live. For me they charged $4+ in Arizona

Yeah nope sorry.
Will ask for my money back at livingsocial.
It won't let me do anything at all. I refreshed it.
Costco card has 0 balance.
I don't have a costco membership.
Nowhere does it say anything about the $40 coupon and other things.

This is stupid

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can I use PayPal to pay for the groupon and still receive the promotion as long as I sign up with my Visa on the Costco page? I just don't want to screw this up.

This is tempting, my membership expired last month, but it's hard to justify signing up for a new one because I am single and live by myself. I still have a double size box of trash bags that I bought over a year ago under my sink that won't run out XD

This is just my opinion, but I think Costco makes a lot more sense for families and people with roomates than for single people. The exception is if you are making a big purchase on an item that will save you $100+ for example, I bought a Casper mattress from Costco when I was a member that saved me at least $300 from what it would have cost to buy from Casper direct.

Perfect timing for me as Costco is opening a new location down the street from me this week! Not as good a previous years with the Chicken and laundry detergent pack but I'll take it!

How long does it take for the card to arrive so I can begin filling up with gas and buying hotdogs?

I posted up above that I had the same problem and called Costco. Filled out everything correctly, order showed $0 after adding the Shop Card, and then it crapped out with an error. When I tried a second time, it showed a $0 balance on the card. First CS person I spoke to had no idea how anything works, put me on hold forever, and never came back. Second person checked with supervisor and they are having a problem with a LOT of transactions doing the same thing. They are trying to figure out what is going on.

I think it's interesting that people are saying Costco is so high-end and overrated. It might be where you are, and how it compares with other stores in your area. I'm in San Francisco, the pretentious bougie capital of the US, and Costco is actually considered a bit lowbrow and uncool compared to so many other places, like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and the many hipster and natural foods markets.

Costco opened around the 90s, before SF became super expensive and upscale, so a lot of shoppers there are the "old guard" who are just ordinary middle class families or restaurant/mom-and-pop shop owners. Costco stores and Costco.com just have very a plain, unstylish look, so that attracts unpretentious people instead of snooty young hipsters who want a cooler aesthetic. Costco.com's cool, indie offerings such as its amazing beauty selection is actually surprising to me because it doesn't go with the bland look and vibe of the site and stores. Costco is actually under-appreciated in my area because it doesn't go with the overall pretentious, chic vibe of the city these days.

Actually, Costco seems very similar to Amazon and Target in not having rock-bottom prices and selling the convenience, name, familiarity, and good vibes. In recent years, I've been seeing that Amazon often has higher prices than other places, and people just buy because they have Prime, gift cards, habit, familiarity, or because there's free shipping over $25 and they can buy anything during that shopping trip.

Too bad they don't just offer a single-only membership for 30-35 and make it where you cant add a second person.

I think I messed up. I bought the membership with the store card and then I set up autopay after checkout. Will I receive the incentives?
Same. I messed up too. Just emailed them and see if it would still work. Frown
