The $40 Costco Gift Card will be Mailed to you within 4-6 weeks.
You can enroll in auto-renewal at the same time you complete your online redemption if your state requires you pay sales tax. Tax will be listed under Order Summary on the membership checkout page.
If Tax is listed as $0.00 in your Order Summary, you will need to enroll in auto-renewal after redeeming your membership. You may do so under the Membership Details section on your Costco confirmation page or from your Costco Account Details page.

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.
Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.
Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

This might be covered earlier but what is the deadline to redeem this offer once purchased through groupon? I have about 80 days left in current membership but I can sign up for a new one after it ends.

Kevin: for clarification, I am a new customer. What happened is I entered in my visa info, then I entered in the costco 60 dollar shop card info, which removed any option for auto renew (required to get the extra 40 dollar shop card and 40 dollar coupon)

Go to Costco.com and select Sign In / Register in the upper right corner of the page.
Under "My Account," choose Renew Membership.
Add, remove or select a Visa® card for Auto Renew.

Kevin: Well like I said, that wasn't an option
Kevin: As soon as I entered in the 60 dollar shop card, it removed the auto renewal

My membership expires in Nov and I plan to start a new one in December on wife's name who is not on the current membership.
