FYI - I tried to register and it won't let me check the box that I reviewed the membership conditions to get the deal.

Calling in - the message said they're aware of an enrolling issue and are working on it.

Does anyone know if my husband is the secondary user on my account, if he can count as a "new member" under this promotion? We're not planning on renewing our membership when it expires next month, but we would for this deal.

42 pages in and there is still no consensus if you actually need to go into a store after enrolling online. 1 data point says 'everything is online' and 1 says you need to go in for a picture, which seems less than likely.

Has anyone been able to find the terms/limitations on the $40 off $250 online coupon? I would imagine it can't be used to buy gift cards, but it doesn't say anything like that (that I can find).

Hi. If you have a question about whether you qualify as a new member, contact the membership counter at your local Costco.
Will do. Thank you.

Because that question is pointless. AND both answers are correct.

Your membership will be started right after you purchase. They will need your picture for the physical card.

Thanks, happened to me. I thought it was because of my adblocker but even with it disabled, I cannot go to the next page

Unfortunately, this offer is not valid for those memberships that expired after April 1, 2020.

Also, if you are interested in upgrading your Costco membership, please visit the membership counter at your local Costco location.
Mine expired in January. Do I need to create a new account? or can I use this card to renew somehow?

Scroll back up and click buy membership.

It'll show the membership conditions again on the next page and you should be able to go through with your purchase.

I just bought a membership and a $350 monitor yesterday -_-
Do I have any recourse, or is this my karma?

Nah. Try Sam's Scan and Go and you'll wonder why you're waiting in line at Costco.
There is no doubt in my mind if Costco had Self Check Out they would do a lot more business. I deliberately avoid Costco as much as I need to because I don't want to wait in line. I don't think Management at Costco has any clue how annoying their long lines are. Of course they don't mind putting an express check out for the food court so you can get your $1.50 hot dog ASAP.

They are either testing or rolling out self checkout. They installed them at the 2 nearest my house right around the start of COVID, so now they're having associates scan your card and all items for you at the self checkout registers with their laser gun, but it's still faster than waiting in line. Before COVID hit you could scan yourself. It's fast either way.
