I only went because the Walmart app was showing 1 in stock. Definitely was wrong.

In 95% items it will show the same quantity as Walmart internal inventory system will have.
To confirm you can get the UPC barcode scanned by a helpful employee.
Limited stock usually means 2 in hand which will have 1 as display unit and 1 hidden somewhere.
Most of the time Walmart shows few units but they actually has none, 2 common reasons for it.
1. They have been stolen or waiting to be returned to vendor due to some issues. These don't get updated in inventory system in most stores.
2. The smart employees hide those in back and will eventually buy themselves.
The second case happened in front of me, a walmart employee bought a i5 laptop for $154. It was the same i went to store a week ago and they told it is not in stock.
Next week i was in electronic billing lane for some item and another employee ringed the same laptop for himself.
Hope this will clarify some of the questions.
