The problem with all starter kits is you'll never have the larger or odd ball sockets. I'd recommend holding out for a larger set on sale unless it's for very casual use.

How good of a case is this - do the sockets stay in place well or do they spill out ?

Is this set worth getting for someone without ratchets? I've been slowly putting together a tool set when things are buy it now prices, but I have no clue if this is a crazy deal or luke warm.

It's not a crazy deal, lukewarm for sure for someone who already has tools IMO but it is a good deal for someone who does not. It is also excellent for someone who rarely uses tools to have just in case.you need a tool. I do like that it goes to 6mm deep well socket in 1/4 in drive.

thanks op, in for one. been looking for a decent tool set to keep in my wifes car now that we tend to drive hers more than mine. I've seen a couple of decent deals at walmart but this one seems higher quality and looks like it'll cover most emergency/random situations. tu and rep!

edit: was also able to get free ship to home

Had this from last three-four years. Picked a markdown priced one from nearby Sears. It comes with a thin kaizen foam divider. As long as you don't lose it, its highly likely the sockets would stay at place

Don't forget if you also have a Menards in your area, Home Depot will match the 11% off sale IF YOU PURCHASE ITEMS IN STORE. It does not apply to online purchases. https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/#/home

I have a couple of these cheap sets for around the house as well as in the trunk of the cars. 99% of the time, I can just use the sockets but for the 1% that require an "oddball' I go find the big set. I'd hate to lug the giant 35 lbs 300+ piece sets around every time I need to take off a bolt lol

Is this a tool set or a socket set? I'd expect pliers and a hammer etc. in a tool set.
