These have been reliable with few clogging issues, have had 2 of the elongated version in the house for 10+ years. A longer handle push does help w/ #2, a shorter push is fine for the rest.

Few items of note. The elongated version gets very narrow <edit for clarity> between the bowl and the tank, so if you want to add a bidet (it causes mounting issues) this might not be the throne for you.

Second random note, the ones we have are made in Mexico. Have no issues with that, just seemed weird when first installing an *American* Standard.

Last, if you want to install a Ka-boom bowl cleaner and use bromine tabs to keep the bowl clean, these toilets work well with that set-up.

If you currently have a 1.6 Gallon per Flusher and replace it with this 1.28 GPF you will save about $1.50 per 3000 flushes. It would take about 300,000+ flushes to break even.

How often do you flush?

Perfect timing, I'm in need of a new toilet. I hear this is the brand to get vs other popular brands?

Hi, I can't comment on the shape of the round bowls, most people are using the round bowls for space limited applications nowadays. From what I remember, the elongated bowls are nice because they are taller than the standard (so better if the user(s) are taller, and fine for average height users as well). If you are shorter, a round bowl might be a more comfortable height.

My caution about the bidets (full seat style and the side mount attachments) applies to the elongated bowl, there is a section between the back of the bowl and the tank that causes awkward fitment. The round bowl may fit differently.

Thanks much! I've got a pretty large bathroom so space isn't an issue. I think you brought up a really helpful info about the height. I've got little kids that prefer shorter toilets, so I'll go for the round one. Thanks!

Will these toilet help save money on water bill, like use less water.
Our toilets are 10+ yrs and looking to upgrade if it will help with water consumption.
Thanks

Easy solution is to bend the rod/float to make the tank 'satisfied' with water level earlier.

Actually, elongated and round are options that are independent of height. You can get either bowl shape in the traditional height or chair height.

Round bowl toilets stick out less from the wall and are better if you have a small bathroom. Elongated only stick out around 2.5-3" more from the wall.

Height: You can get toilets in either the old traditional height, or Chair height / tall height. Shorter toilets are more comfortable for shorter people, but the taller are required for ADA compliance.

It will depend on what size tank flush you have. Really old ones had around 3.5gal one then it went down to 1.6 followed by 1.28 and now even 1.1gal. Main thing about "water savers" is how well the flush basically, you can have low volume but if it takes 2-3 flushes to get rid of "golf balls" then there go your savings.
P.S. golf balls reference is from American standard using it as thing they rate their flushes, don't ask me why though my guess is because they are white, round and look better than natural things as a reference.

It might mess with flushing on some old models resulting in no full flush. It depends from model to model on more newer ones you usually get away with doing so.
IMO the really old ones with 3+gal tank should be trashed since they suck at flushing unless they use up whole 3.5gal tank which stinks.

Brick in a zip lock bag would work too
