I would pay for a road bike that much but not for an indoor one... others might have different opinions.

I have this exact bike and use with the peloton app ($14/mo). You need a device and the echelon app (free) to see your resistance, cadence, and watts. I use an android tablet on the bike and the peloton app on Apple TV. For the price this can't be beat. I love this thing and use it every single day. Super smooth and quiet. Only concern would be if you are taller than 6' 2" I wouldn't buy it as it might be too small. It doesn't work with zwift. If you want that check out the schwinn ic4.
Have you used the peloton bike before? Do you prefer this bike overall? I'm not a cyclist but I want something to burn calories.

I have Schwinn ic4 but costs $300 more and 2 months wait before shipping. Ic4 has a cadence, a small LED screen, clip on spd, and pulse sensor, maybe a little bit larger flywheel ...40lbs. Ic4 has higher resistance 100 levels as this has only 32. The company that makes this also has a $800 model if someone wants an upgrade

How does this compare with the ProForm Tour De France with iFit from Costco for 499?

That bike has horrible reviews on Costco itself. Everything I've read about this bike is fairly positive.

I know this is slickdeals and I'm all about getting the BEST deal possible, but my recommendation for anyone looking for a "smart" spin bike is to get the Peloton. There's a waitlist for a reason. They give a 30-day risk free trial for a reason. Everything about the Peloton was designed to fill a specific purpose. Even if it wasn't the best spin bike, the technology and instructors are what takes it to the next level. I don't do live classes and still feel it's worth every dollar. There's a special connection between paying a premium for exercise equipment, turning the resistance knob yourself, and trying to climb the leaderboard or beat your own personal record. To try and Jerry-rig an echelon, Schwinn or any other spin bike to use the peloton app or youtube will leave you disappointed.

In my opinion, spinning is for someone who is in good physical shape already. No knee issues, back issues, or other mobility issues. In my opinion being obese may also detract from the spinning experience. If you're not committed to spinning the first time you ride the bike, you will probably never return for another ride.
Hey Peloton marketing team! Thanks but I'll take a pass on paying 3x more for the same bike.

Both, but now that you ask which one would you recommend?
Thanks a lot!

You can change the saddle. Maybe cycling shorts with padding?

Take your outdoor bike seat and put on your indoor bike. Some apps have touring ride feature. It feels like you were riding outside without worrying about traffic or weathers. The bike this caliber allows you to stand up to simulate climbing as you increase resistance.

Questions:
  1. You use free Echelon App in Freestyle mode to see cadence, resistance, and power (watts) correct? Any other data like calories, etc.?
  2. Use Apple Watch to give you heart rate.
  3. Peleton App - pay $12.99/month, and app lets you connect via bluetooth your Apple Watch to see your heart rate in the app? And it lets you connect to the Echelon bike or app to see the cadence, resistance, and power inside the Peleton app?
  4. Looks like some people come with just the pedal cages without the SPD underneath. And others come with the pedal cage, and on the underside on the cage the SPD clip?
I'm just wondering if there is other equipment I can get ahead of when the bike arrives. I'll see if it comes with the SPD underneath. And see how the seat feels. But making sure I don't need to get like a Wahoo Cadence sensor (like other bikes, Sunny), which it seems like I don't.

TIA!
1.via your smart device. This bike has no led screen. 2. Maybe, I don't have Apple Watch but people said it has its own pulse sensor too 3 which can integrate with peloton app. Yes. It has 30-day free trial, you can sign up in minutes. Do not sign early. Peloton app shows only cadence and heart rate live for none peloton bike. 4. It only has pedal cages. You can replace it yourself or buy the next up model ,$300 more.

Peloton bikes have 0-100 resistance. If you are using the Peloton app for classes can you replicate the same resistance with the Echelon or limited?
You can use conversion charts, one of the Walmart reviews even turned the conversion chart into a piece of wall art

And it's not the for the reason you are intending to imply..
There is a wait list for toilet paper, 2x4 lumber or anything pressure treated, ANY 2 wheel bike at all, almost anything exercise related, refrigerators, webcams, monitors, and the list goes on.

That connection you are describing is anyone that has fitness goals and really exercises, that is not exclusive to a Peloton. Even doing the same thing for 10 more minutes this week is easily measurable. You can strap on any number of sensors, counters, stopwatches, timers and apply them towards goals in any cardio or distance/time based exercise and a lot you can compare to yourself or others. If people need motivation and paying a premium for that motivation is acceptable to them than go for it. The actual real gains in fitness, exercise, and effort can be had at a lower cost.

Peloton isn't about features, it's about community, experience, and brand -- you pay 5 times more for that not the bike. I've been on Peloton for 3 years now, I've had to replace the entire bike once under warranty and a few parts of it because of daily use. Peloton is the Apple of spinning bikes, doesn't have always the latest and greatest, but it does have a perceived status. I reviewed my replacement bike recently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpeonOUoaEQ just for fun, then the pandemic hit and Peloton has really been on a surge because of all this stay at home exercising. My personal opinion? Get the Peloton, you won't regret it. Disclaimer, I'm the kind of guy that also own an iPhone over an Samsung even though the specs on the Galaxy phone are usually better than the iPhones.
