Hey all sorry I guess I feel like I've seen some conflicting info on here so trying to fully understand. My wife and I have Android phones and an Android set too box with peloton digital.

I'm order to see the cadence info would I need to still buy a wahoo cadence sensor or will it work natively? And if native would it need to connect to Bluetooth to work? (Meaning either the Bluetooth in my phone or maybe even a Bluetooth dongle on my Android box)?

Looking forward to getting something nicer than our existing upright bike. Thanks all
Yes sensors built in, you can use a phone but a tablet may be better to view the workout

I searched the thread and thought it was posted, but I can't find the weight of this Echelon flywheel. What is it? 29 pounds?
It's between 32-35 lbs

Ok thanks. If I use the app via my Android box, if I want to see the stats on screen (I assume the Peloton or Echelon apps can do this when using Android TV but maybe now), I would need a bluetooth adapter for the box to push the data to it, right? Or does it work in some other method?

Also does anyone know if either app offers Chromecast from phone to TV in the event I have to use my phone?

spd or spd-sl. but you are fine with toe cages for now if you never clipped in. try with cages for now, and if you are into, get clips. remmber, its new pedals AND shoes AND cleats. so its a bit of an investment.
Ahh thanks. yeh my wife and I will try the cages for now and see how we like it. Thx

Couple of questions before I jump on to this,

Does this have distance measurement sensor?

I do have Sunny health stationary bike with chain drive and friction based resistance. I am using it with Peloton hack for a while now. Is it worth a upgrade to this bike or I am just wasting my money here. Biggest challenge with my current bike is not knowing exact resistance setting during Peloton classes.

Thanks in advance

Have this for my adult daughter. She loves it and uses her Iphone instead of tablet.

INFO:
  • You use the free Echelon App on your phone, using the Freestyle mode so you can see metrics for cadence, resistance, and power. This comes from the bike. No need for additional cadence sensor.
  • Purchase Peloton App ($12.99/month). If you have an Apple Watch, there is mention that you download app on phone or tablet first, then install Peloton app on your Apple Watch which allows using the heart rate on your watch and display it on the Peloton app on the iphone or ipad.
  • Or if you have another bluetooth heart rate monitor, Peloton App allows you to use that.
  • The Peloton App can show and store your cadence in the Peloton App, but you need a separate cadence sensor, like the Wahoo Cadence. So this is only if you want to have that data show on the Peloton app.
  • This is not needed b/c you already have that data displayed on your Echelon App. Meaning you have your Apple watch, iPhone, and iPad.
  • iPhone has the Echelon app freestyle open to show you metrics.
  • iPad has the Peloton App open to view workout videos.
  • Watch (or other bluetooth heart rate sensor) to show heart rate info in Peloton app.
  • Wahoo sensor if you want to display cadence and store that in your Peloton app workouts.
This reddit sub has info on on to use Peloton app with Echelon bike and is where I'm mentioning the info above (its not the same bike as the Sport, but connection should be the same):
https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotonc...m_medium=a... [reddit.com]

Pics of that person's setup. You'll see they use an iPhone (Echelon app), iPad (Peloton), Wahoo sensor (to show cadence in Peloton app - but not needed).

I'm all ready to jump on this. Then my husband says I should get a $1600 Norditrack with auto resistance and the tablet. Thinks it would make things smoother not having to manually turn resistance dial. I'm like trying to save money here worried about spending 500 and hes pushing for 1600. I exercise a lot, plus do treadmill and elliptical. I've never done a spin class, but been wanting a bike for a while. So thought this would be a good deal. Now, do I get this or spend the extra. He just doesn't want me to complain about turning a dial which I think would become second nature after a while. I'm not sure stores around here are allowing us to test out equipment during this virus.

"turning a dial" is exactly what you do in a spin class.

if you want auto-resistance, I would recommend a road bike with a smart trainer (look up wahoo kickr or tacx vortex)

This is ONE THIRD the price....I don't think you will regret. that said, I don't own yet -just ordered it.

but I'm a cyclist (who uses a wahoo smart trainer) and I've gone to spin. got htis for my wife who spins. and for my occasional use until its winter and I use my trainer

hope that helps.

With the gym closed, I've been looking for something similar. At this price, I had to give it a try. In for one, with an expected delivery of 8/27. Thanks OP!

Peleton now has an app in Amazon Prime Video. Works on a smart tv or if you have a fire stick...
So I log into my Amazon Prime Video and search for Peloton? That's pretty cool.

Right. Auto resistance and things are for indoor cycling which is to recreate outdoor cycling inside.

This is a spin bike just for exercise.

So it's really about what experience you are after. If you are cyclist and want to simulate outdoor riding you will need something more advanced than this. If you want to do spin class, this is the jam.

I plan on buying a mat for underneath this bike.

Can't seem to find measurements anywhere.

Anyone know what the dimensions of the base are?
