After doing tons of research about network speeds, coverage, backhaul support, etc., I settled on either this, the M9 Plus, or two Nest Wifi Routers (not the router and point combo). For the price, and the coverage, I chose this and don't have any regrets. Love the app control and visibility. Coverage is great in my approx 2,900 sq/ft house two story house with basement. Reaches out to a Eufy doorbell, 2 Wyze cams outside, and about 30+ connected devices inside. Very happy. And Costco return policy makes it a no brainer. I paid $199 for this at the beginning of the pandemic. If it had been $179, I would have debated way less.

No mesh carries it, the manufactures assume these are for more entry level users. Anyone that wants sharing on an network will either have a external hard drive with cloud feature, or a NAS. You also have the option of just plugging it into a computer that's always on and sharing it through that too.

Can always get the dual band X60 wifi 6 model than for $70 more.

X60 will give you better performance in general and is more future proof. People put a lot of emphasis on the triband vs dual band, but most dont realize in a lot of situations dual band will work almost identical to tri band. Only in situations where you pass almost max throughput on the network or have very strong wireless interference will performance get impacted. Also for those who are using ethernet backhaul its a non issue.

Look at 1st reply.

first time posting so go easy on me. I've been looking at this for a while and the Eero on Amazon but today the price discounted for a extra $20 and it's Triband so it was a no brainier to me.

Its a router system it will work with any provider, you will not see a full 1Gbps speed on wireless from it though. You need top of the line wifi 6 equipment to getting max speeds on wireless.
Thank you. Can you please recommend a Wifi 6 MESH router? Is TRI Band with wifi 6 is better or just dual-band Wifi 6 router is better?

This is a great deal. Bestbuy is selling 2 pack for $199, most retailers sells this 3 pack about $100 more

The biggest difference is that this M9 has a dedicated backhaul band (tri-band), whereas Google Nest does not (dual band).
What does this mean? Also this router currently does not support AES only encryption. My iPhone gives me a warning that my security is weak. Big thread on their forums as well. They are "working on it".

Okay, dumb question

How would I make these work with Verizon Fios? Verizon has given me their dedicated Fios Modem/Router for 3 years rent free

This has a USB port, but it's not functional other than for charging devices. How does one connect an external 3.0 USB hard drive to a Mesh Network Router system. Few if anyone seem to have the ability to connect a USB Hard Drive in order to create a media drive. Any recommendations or thoughts would be helpful.

Thank you!
You could get a NAS, RasPi, use the USB on Nvidia shield or other device.. plug it straight into a PC and leave the PC on and use it as a network drive

I got in on the refurb m5 set last month and it is worth the price but you should probably ask yourself what youre really needing out of a wifi system.

Yes it has parental controls but they are very basic, if you have the facebook app on your phone it thinks you spend 24 hours a day online and on facebook because of how it counts usage (and it doesnt let you set separate time limits for different classes of content).

Triband will always be better, but your paying a huge premium for it. If you want a inexpensive next step up, but with wifi 6 the dual band Deco X60 also available at Costco for $250 has been hitting the best bang for your buck category currently. A top of the line triband wifi 6 mesh system will cost you $400-$600 depending on brand.

With a proper wifi 6 client people have achieved speeds between 700-800Mbps on wireless close proximity to the mesh units. If you want faster than that and okay with spending more let me know I will see your next step up?

I bought one for $199 previously but returned it. No web interface. If you want the latest firmware, you are at the mercy of TP-Link making it available for you. Some users switch between the TP-Link app on their android and iPhone to see which one gives them the latest firmware. If you like to manually downloaded the latest or beta firmwares and apply them yourself, this won't let you.

So if I have those video/photos files on the USB drive, I can plug on this, then use VLC app to access those file as long as I'm on my wifi network? That would be cool.
