Usually $229--been waiting on this price for a few weeks now. Not sure if it's the BEST deal, but it's pretty solid. I wanted this over the $199 3 tool porter cable/craftsman kits because the brad nailer is much more solid and I don't need the other tools. Good reviews on HD.

Nice find. I thought $200 a few months ago was a decent deal.

Got this same kit a few years back, its an excellent set. Compressor looks slightly updated from the one I got. I actually paid $100.03 at Home Depot, I can't remember if it was a price mistake or clearance, but I think it was advertised on here. The person ringing me up was even surprised what it rung up for.

Just picked one up yesterday before seeing this. Trick is to order online, as it's $229 in store. I asked one of the HD pros if 1) this was a good unit (he said he'd take Dewalt over most others), and 2) if this was a good deal given Labor Day sale is coming up, to which he said he thought that a Special Buy like this might even be a better deal than what might be offered for Labor Day. Just remember to order online to get the deal, even if it's for curbside or in store pickup, in order to get this price. I haven't used it yet, but reviews on it seem solid.

Is this a better buy than the Ryobi 18v air brad nailer that often retails for 99 and currently 129? Carrying a compressor sounds intimidating for a newbie woodworker like me.

I use a Bostitch pancake that looks nearly identical and I don't have a problem with blowing out the heads. My largest zone is 8 heads and it's 75-90% done in 2 passes. I take a third pass for good measure.

For my smaller zones (5-6 heads), two passes and its done.

That said I have 8 zones it usually takes me ~1.5 hours to do the job.

From my perspective, if you're a newbie then pneumatic makes a lot of sense over battery powered. Pneumatic are cheap in comparison (once you own the compressor). I've been through a few pneumatic nailers trying to find one I'm happy with and it's much cheaper to experiment if you're not dialed in to a particular gauge/type given your woodworking. I also use my compressor to blow off wood projects (see https://www.amazon.com/Neiko-3111...th=1&psc=1) before I prep for paint. Good for filling car tires (https://www.amazon.com/WYNNsky-He...60&sr=8-20 or similar) and pool floats too (I drill a hole in a rubber stopper and use the nozzle in the first link to fill pool floats). All that said, if I had a specific use case in mind - battery powered is hella convenient. You can't really miss with either. Hope that helps a little.

I use pneumatic and battery powered tools, and the only downside to air power (in my weekend warrior use case) is that in my tiny 1 car garage workspace, the compressor kicks in at infrequent and random times scaring the living HELL out of me. For this reason alone, I tend to stick with battery powered despite the significant price differential for nailers, etc.

My tiny workspace seems to amplify the noise, even for a "quite" rated compressor like this pancake.

Yes, I am concerned about noise tool. I have a very small garage.

I just bought this a couple months ago - only used it for one small project but was satisfied. I bought it over the porter cable because I wanted the tool free jam clearance.

Note that in the home depot reviews/pictures, the swivel connector is not a guarantee. I wanted the swivel but got only the straight connector....wasn't worth it to return but I was not ecstatic about it.

My wife gave me a Dewalt pancake compressor for Christmas a couple years ago. It seems to be pretty decent. A couple of things became evident after I used it a lot. First, it's loud. I wanted a California Air, which you can't hardly hear, but apparently didn't lay down good enough hints, so ended up with the Dewalt. Of course, I told my wife it was exactly what I wanted and didn't think any more about it. I built a 12x16 shed in my backyard and used it extensively running a framing gun. It's hard to keep the regulator set on pressure. My Porter Cable framing gun needs between 90 and 120 psi, so I set it on 100 or 110 and inevitably I'd shoot a few nails, and then have one misfire because the pressure had dropped. The tank pressure would stay at 150 and not drop, but the regulator pressure is very difficult to get consistent. Other than, it's a good unit.

This is a fairly common deal. I bought it for this price about 4 years ago. However I have used both the compressor and nailer a ton and they are excellent. No problems from either one.
