Called at 2:30 to place an order. Apparently my Whole Foods closes their pizza department from 2pm - 5pm for sanitization?

Are any of you experiencing similar at your locations? Odd that they require 3 hours in the middle of a Friday to sanitize, particularly when they're running a highly popular special. This is the Ashburn location in Northern Virginia.
Mine is "out of dough".

Pretty much a night and day difference in quality from the pizza I got today and the one I got last week (same place, same time of the day).

Last week the pizza was surprisingly really good and definitely beyond my expectations. It filled the big brown box, looked good and tasted like maybe a $3 slice from a decent place in NYC.

...

Round pizza both times in 18.5"x18.5" boxes ($16 reg price)...kinda strange people are getting different sized boxes even for rounds.
Week 1: The pizza is 18" in diameter in a 18" diameter box and weighed 34 ounces.
Week 2 was 16" in diameter in a 16" square box. Same store as last week which gave me an 18" pizza (about 20% smaller compared to first week).
Week 3: Box is back to 18" and pizza is a bit over 17" in diameter and weighed 34 oz
Week 4 (skipped pizza because we got that 20 pound Labor Day lobster deal mentioned on SD)
Week 5: Box is 18", and pizza is 17.5" and weighed 32 ounces.

I usually go to the back yard, grab fresh tomatoes, peppers, and basil, then add to the top of the pizza: fresh mozarella, slices of onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, fresh roasted peppers, cooked, sliced asparagus, kalamata olives, and then throw it under the broiler (under the lowest setting) for a couple of minutes to warm up the toppings. I then add the basil, pesto and some prosciutto on top after taking it out of the oven. It's a bit of the "stone soup" approach to pizza, I guess.

Well I got the new rectangle pizza it seems to measure 18"x12" which is an area of 210
came in a 18" box about

from what other people are saying the circle pizza seems to be usually slightly bigger, 16" dia = 200.36
17" dia = 226.865
18" dia = 254.34

Tried this deal yesterday... one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Honestly, not even worth $6.

The last time I tried whole food's pizza was a couple of years ago and I remember it being much, much better.

Did it look like this?

I expected round pie, not rectangular shit with Pizza Hut like dough.

Interesting. No, mine was round. But the crust was so doughy and bland. And frankly, the sauce and cheese also did not taste very good. I used to think you can't really mess up pizza - my opinion of that changed with the pizza I got.

Not only the dough was similar as Pizza Hut, they didn't spread the sauce thoroughly. They put patches of sauce here and there. Not sure if I'll continue buying this on Fridays.

We've done this the last 3 weeks or so, grabbed one at about 4:30 and there were a few left. I typically chuck it in the oven for 5 minutes or so and it's good to go, I thought it tasted great this week.

They messed up real bad. I thought mines was OK. The dough was the worst part but I would consider it for $6, it can easily feed me for 3 days.

Got one today at Millburn (Vauxhall) Whole Foods. AMAZING. Maybe a bit too much cheese. Tart sauce. Doughy crust. I saw her kneading dough when I walked up. She said "25 minutes and this one is yours" when I asked for one. $80 of random groceries later: https://i.imgur.com/nNoJjel.jpg

Edit: my parents just came to visit and my dad (who is 1st gen Italian and hates everything) said, "this is pretty good pizza" so huh... I'm not sure that if I were to order the same pizza next week that it would be identical but I'll take it! As soon as I tasted the tart sauce I knew he'd be okay with it. A lot of people focus on the dough but in Jersey, pizza sauce cannot be too sweet. That's the first thing we'll notice that makes it taste booty. Our water is superior so it's hard to mess up the dough too badly lol.

Haha! Yeah, the best thing to do to avoid the $6 pizza becoming a $50 shopping trip is to call ahead and order a "Whole Cheese Pizza" and give them a time for you to pick up. Call the main number and follow directions to reach the Deli dept.

Too much cheese is always good for me. I wish the ones near me can make pie like that, round and cheesy.

Haha its okay I do cardio and work out pretty often. I don't eat out very often as its pretty expensive over cooking at home.
