Sprint (now part of T-Mobile) [sprint.com] is offering a free handset line for existing and new customers from 9/2/20 to 9/17/2020. The end date may be extended, depending on how many free lines are added during 9/2-9/17. [Promo is still alive and has been extended as "limited time offer" with no end date]

You can BYOD or buy new phone, can be combined with any existing phone offers such BOGO, LOGO, trade-in discount, etc. Existing customers must have at least two paid handset lines on their accounts to add a free line. New customers must order at least two paid handset lines to add a free line. Handset lines and voice lines are the same thing and are used interchangeably, which include minutes, texts and data, in Sprint/T-Mobile lingo.

Please read the FAQs [sprint.com] and the wiki below for more info.

We are here to help each other and share info, so please no fighting, no argument, no insult of any kind, and be nice to each other. Don't forget to thank those who help you and those who keep the wiki updated.

On different day. All $0 except the one I just ordered today with a new phone, which is still processing. Don't do too many orders as the ordering system will flag your account for manual review when it sees unusual amount of orders, and Sprint rep will remove them during the review. They may also ban your account. I have seen this where people were making multiple upgrades on the same line to get cheap phones for resell, and Sprint banned their accounts.

From how the billing system works, I think you can possibly get max 3 free lines from this promo - 1 from reserve, another from BYOD, and another from buying a new phone, unless a Sprint rep manually remove any of the promo code from your account. Any other additional free line that sticks will be an early Christmas gift from Sprint, but I doubt it. hug
Do you recall how long until BYOD line showed strike through? Reserved a line few days ago (order completed, shows strikethrough after 1 day), added BYOD on different day (order completed, no strikethrough yet after 1 day)

It says free line on us on the order confirmation? Either way be prepared to pay for it, doubt it'll be free.

so the Offer code is only attached to the 1 reserve line i also see $0 in app and online, so i am guessing that means my other 5 lines are kaboom (paid)...

If you're willing to go a step further and port in something non-Sprint/T-Mobile...

Damn, if only they had this earlier, could've gotten it with the free line 😭. Still would come out ahead though, I could add a line and keep it active till I get the card(probably 2 months)

What I was trying to say is any new line added (free or otherwise) Sept 18 or later you should try this on. Even if new line, just port in a AT&T/Verizon-based number and see what happens. I wonder if T-Mobile is as tolerant of Google Voice numbers as Sprint does... I know for my 2nd BYOD line that still hasn't gotten a strikethrough after 2 days (reserve line got strikethrough in a day) this is what I'll be trying so the monthly charge doesn't go to waste

Just wanted to add a data point for those who care..seems like 👍 the promotion codes are different and those lines do show as Free Add A line on Us, got a sweet rep who was not at all a pain dealing with. The issue of weather or not it sticks is a gamble....so far only 1 line shows free with $0 others are showing a cost still.

Upgrade iPhone 11 Pro Max: price is different between lines.

My SWAC XS Max has $47.xx for 24 months to upgrade to 11 Pro Max. But the Free Line On Us I got last June BYOD 6 Plus has a big discount at $36.xx.

If I upgrade to 6 Plus to 11 Pro Max now for a cheaper price and then later swap phone between my 2 lines: is it possible now or I have to wait 24 months?

I ported out the line I added to get the free line and lost it lol. I wanted to see if it would work because I realized that i was gonna lose it eventually because you need 2 paid lines to keep it after 12 months, and I was only gonna keep 1. Anyway, I complained and called and around $500 in credit so I'm set for more than a year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Only have 1 SWAC and 1 unlimited on us now.

Do you mean you ported out the 2nd paid line and lost the credit on the 3rd free line? If so, just curious, how did you complain as it's clear in the terms?
I'm also planning to cancel the 2nd paid line after one year. If I'll lose the free line credit because of it, I may cancel both soon as I don't need 3 lines.

Yeah I ported the second paid line and lost 3rd. I lost the discount within 36 hours and received no notification about it, just checked online. To complain, I said a rep told me I could cancel a line(this was true). After quite a bit of waiting a supervisor said he'd credit me $470, which I of course accepted. I then ported back the line I cancelled for $50 credit(i got a text about this) and then ported it back out. So $520 in credit which will easily pay for my SWAC and June free line for the year.

And yeah, I'm like 99% sure you won't get to keep the free line if you have only 1 paid line after 12 months. Just like you, i have no need for more lines(whole point of me being on SWAC to begin with). Terms say you must maintain an eligible line count which would be 2 paid at the least, just like how T-Mobile does these. No matter what any rep promises you none of them have the power to restore the MAC code once it's gone because it's system generated and automatically removed.

Got it, thanks for the detailed info. Looks like I'd better to cancel my lines ASAP.

Finally added a line and then added the third line for free. My account had the promo but I was having trouble with the trade-in of iphone 6s for iphone 11 (for a credit of 500). The sprint website was not taking the iphone 6s even though it was supposed to and it was showing up on the iphone 11 order page. After multiple tries, one of the sales person found the right promo for the trade-in and processed the order. She added the virtual line for free immediately after that and that reserved virtual line showed up in my online dashboard/account in few minutes.

Thanks for everyone's help. In case anyone is having trouble with the trade-in of iphone 6s, i would say just call in and tele sales can help you out. I think the sprint website has issues. I think iphone 11 for 200 after the trade-in credit is a pretty good deal, particularly with the free line promo

Im a little confused and hopefully someone can clarify, but did they fix where the multiple people got free lines under the same free line promotion namely the July promotion. I was wondering if people are getting a those lines as full price now

I tried this, my reserve line is free, my line that i bought a phone on is paid. Any assistance.
