New customers can get 20% off a Magenta or Magenta Plus plan and existing customers (or new customers getting a non-magenta plan) can get $200 off a 5G phone.

Price for 4 lines on Magenta with 20% Insider Hookup: $112

See more example costs in the last FAQ question below.

See redemption instructions in the wiki section below.

Offer ends September 30th.

Type 1: 20% off Hookup
This will be the most popular by far. It will give customers porting in from AT&T/Verizon/Eligible MVNO 20% off all voice lines for the life of the account, even lines added later in the life of the account. This offer is stackable with pretty much all existing promos such as discounts on phones when you add a line, etc. This will also stack with third line free.

Type 2: $200 off a 5G phone for new customers
This one will probably be the least popular. New customers can get a code for $200 off a 5G phone. It will stack with other active promos, for example if a 5G phone has 50% off with add a line, etc. This type is only really useful for those opening a new account that isn't a magenta or magenta plus account, such as when opening a 55+ account or a first responder account.

Type 3: $200 off a 5G phone for existing customers
Existing customers can get a $200 rebate card when they purchase a new 5G phone from T-Mobile on an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP). No add-a-line necessary.

We have PLENTY of codes over on the subreddit (r/tmobile) and in the subreddit's Discord server (linked in the about/sidebar of the subreddit).

FAQ:

Q: What is a "Hookup Code"?
A: A hookup code is a unique code provided by T-Mobile and Sprint employees. Each employee gets 3 codes to hand out of each type. This code can be registered online along with your phone number to give you discounts, either 20% off the account or $200 off a 5G phone, depending on the code.

Q: I used a code. Now what?
A: If you got no error messages, you're all set. For the 20% off code simply visit a T-Mobile store to setup a new account and port in the number you registered the code with. You don't even have to mention hookup to the employee if you don't want to, everything will be automatic. For the $200 off code, you will use it after buying a new 5G phone on EIP and receiving the phone.

Q: I already have a T-Mobile account. Can I get this deal?
A: No. New accounts only. You would need to port in a number from a carrier that is not a T-Mobile/Sprint account or one of their MVNOs into a brand new account using an account holder that does not currently have a postpaid T-Mobile account.

Q: My number was on T-Mobile or Sprint in the last 90 days. Do I qualify?
A: No. In order to qualify as a new customer, the number you port in (and use for the insider hookup) cannot have been on T-Mobile or Sprint (or one of their MVNOs) in the last 90 days.

Q: Can I stack other promos?
A: Yes! 20% Hookup is compatible with pretty much all other promos like phone trade in deals.

Q: How much would my plan be with the 20% discount?
A: On Magenta, 1 line is $56, 3 lines is $96 (w/third line free), 4 lines is $112, and additional lines are +$16 each (up to 8 lines). On Magenta Plus, 1 line is $68, 3 lines is $112, 4 lines is $136, and additional lines are +$24 each (up to 8 lines). Both plans are taxes included, so what you see is what you pay.

FYI extra lines added later will also get the 20%, so if you add a 4th line down the road it'll only be +$24
Would extra lines added as Sprint port-ins after a valid non-sprint port in count for the 20%? Is there a minimum number of valid ports required?

I'm thinking of porting in one valid number and then porting in two Sprint numbers.

No, they use T-Mobile as one of their providers.

Did you already have the phone purchased on EIP and in-hand? Read the "How to redeem codes" section (specifically for type 2 and 3) for more info.
per my conversation with the supervisor, who was reading the terms and conditions, it says port in must not be from T-Mobile prepaid, Sprint and boost, she said all others would be considered as valid portins, if you want you may try google port in.

So I understand correctly: the only remaining active code is for Type 3 scenarios, meaning that no codes are currently available for Type 1 (new port-in customers) scenarios?

Edit: actually followed directions and found plenty of codes on the subreddit. Redeemed for type 1 and looking forward to saving boatloads of money.

Can anyone clarify this a bit? I already received a code and registered it online. Can I now just go online, order a new line of service, get a SIM card since I'm bringing my own device and port my number, and the 20% will automatically apply to my new plan? Or do I need to actually speak to someone on the phone or in person?
You don't need to speak to anyone; you can do it all yourself.

Both in store and online appear have generally been the same. You'll get charged an activation fee either way.

Costco is the best deal. No activation, and better credits and phone prices. If you're going to switch signing up for Costco is worth it in the fee savings alone.

Once you register the code and activate the new service, your account will display if the 20% discount was approved within 2-3 days. Just make sure the number you have registered for the 20% discount is the primary number on the T-Mobile account as well.

Type 2 and 3 work on military type 1 will not
A relative has 2 existing t-mobile lines but is not signed up for the military discount. If she were to convert to a military plan then add 4 new lines (my household) would we be able to get the 3rd line free and maybe a type 2/3 discount? Also, are there any good add-a-line deals that would stack with the type 2/3 promo?

If there are known issues with this type of arrangement (like usage patterns as my household is 3k miles away from her) please let me know as I don't want to make a mess of things.

Thanks

My cousin did this deal in store. He wanted Magenta plan with 4 port-in lines and one additional line with a new number assigned. He just got the bill. The scums in the store signed him up for Magenta for Business and added Digits Talk & Text @Work line without his knowledge. I got him the Type 1 code as these scums were saying only Magenta Plus will get 20% discount. He then confronted with the info I provided and they said ok they will sign him up for Magenta. They then signed him up for Magenta for Business. What a bunch of frauds. Avoid doing anything in store. I will have to call customer service to correct this.

Third free wouldn't since you already would have 2 lines. The rest should work fine and you can stack a type 3 code with any of the add a line phone deals. Go to T-Mobile's website and go to the phone page while logged in and you'll see phones with magenta text over them that say things like "get this phone 50% off when you add a line" etc.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Can I sign up at Costco with BYOD, or do I have to purchase phones.

Also does Costco charge for sim kits?

thanks

If you sign up for BYOD, no fee, and they give you $100 costco cash card
