HDhomerun I found to have interlacing issues over the computer.
I have the Airtv2 hooked up to cheap SSD drive 240gig...the 14 dollar PNY with a usb 3 cable adapter. Works great so far. Record two channels same time. I got 40 hours of programming. Great resolution and no interlacing. It is not perfect but its free. And the quality is good for me.
The trick is using SSD drive for faster access and I connect by ethernet.
I understand the pulling of recordings but you can access all the recordings on your phone anywhere or roku,
I sold my 4 tuner HDhomerun since the 35 dollar a year DVR service is a rip off. Yes, you can use other apps to get it free but the slingtv app gives me plenty of control.
Note the word free. Free Airtv2. Free HDTV antenna (but I use the GE pro attic antenna which is fantastic to pull in signals versus the standard old style antenna configuration.
They need to fix this asap.
Now, under youtubetv some AMC programs would not allow me to fast forward new recordings unless they were older. I have to see if that is your issue.

What about outside my wifi area/network? I have Tablo, it will require a yearly subscription for pulling tv/movie info and an extra monthly subscription if I want stream outside of wifi area.
