Deal has been around for a while. I purchased one about a month ago. Works fine. As stated Wi-Fi is disabled. But all the data can be viewed on the included color monitor. You lose the ability to see data on computer desktop and to transmit data to national databases. I don't care about either of those features. For $49.00 I'm loving it.

How does it communicate with the monitor? Wire required?

Connects to monitor Wirelessly..Just not by traditional Wi-Fi. Setup was pretty easy. If I wasn't so lazy I'd post a pic. I was not disappointed. I have 3 of their products in various rooms of the house

I take it you can't add a rain sensor to this with no WiFi?

Edit: Confirmed the 79400 will work with the LTV-R3 Rain Sensor! WiFi not needed.

The manufacturer gives this weather station with wifi disabled a higher retail price than the weather station that has wifi.

With wifi retail $159

Wifi disabled retail $164 sale $49. Yeah, right.

I just set this up for my Mom this weekend - easy to setup, and colorful display, almost information overload, but I think I like it enough to get one for myself too!

Question: How does it generate forecasts? Does it connect to forecasting stations around the area?

So which part has the wifi chip? The actual display or the wind sensor?

If I bought this and the display stops working in 6 months, cant I use the breeze sensor with another display unit that has wifi working?

This is still available. I bought one last week and it was an easy setup. I don't know how the display unit connects to the sensor, but it works well at 200 feet with a garage in between.
