Noticed that as well. Fortunately, it worked anyway when I gave it a shot Smilie Please let us know if it doesn't apply when you give it a try.

Thanks for the update Frown Sorry to hear it didn't work. I tried a different method: Apply coupon FALL15 first, then applied the email coupon. I'm using the Google Chrome desktop to test this (for what it's worth).

Decent deal for sure on the 8 Plus. An older phone but would be fine for a few years. Also still have trade-in value with apple (haven't checked but it is probably a bit less than this price). Remember you can trade in a "locked" phone for same price; Apple doesn't care as they are refurbed completely if done by Apple. Note that the 8 Plus is actually very similar to the "XR" that came out the following year.

In the old days I bought Total Wireless deals and used with my Tracfone SIM card with no problems because they map to same carrier code. Does anyone know if this activates on Tracfone? [EDIT nevermind, I see that OP confirms it does activate on TracFone. That is pretty tempting because you can use it with any of the TF plans. They do now have a monthly unlimited minutes (limited data) plan, as well as the old low-usage plans which were great for a seldom-used or backup phone.]

[EDIT] As I assumed, these are no longer available from Apple. They discontinued most older models to promote the 11 series last year. Though they still had stock and sold some as "refurb" though they were probably new. Their refurb page has entries for 8 and 8 Plus but are greyed-out. However the XR is available but at $629 for the 256GB. That's still a hefty price because that model had a big price increase for the 256.

There is no doubt that if you want to get into an iPhone series on a budget, this is a pretty good deal. It should be good for at least 2-3 more years before it will eventually be "obsoleted" (i.e. no longer able to get iOS updates and may not run new apps). And it will always have some trade-in value though perhaps not very much.

BTW anyone thinking of getting a new "budget" iPhone should also consider the new SE at retail of $399. It is similar in form to the 8 (not 8 Plus), but has updated processor and based on Apple terms you should have at least 5 years of iOS compatibility (vs 2-3 remaining for 8 series). If you buy from Apple you get a full unlocked (legitimately). Of course you can also buy from a carrier and get promo deals but usually that phone will be locked and if you have a promo deal you will need to pay-off phone if you terminate early.

There is an "Apple Event" next week Sept 15th, but rumors indicate it's likely a Watch (and maybe iPad) event, not a phone event. Most expect the next iPhone won't come out till next year, delayed partly due to covid and also slow roll-out of 5G in USA (most expect next iPhone will support 5G, but most carriers don't have equipment in place in most parts of the country yet.) Also not as many people ready to shell out $1K for a new phone when they have a 2-year-old one that does pretty everything they need.

I think this could be a potential investment towards iPhone 12 or maybe even Pixel 5 depending on what deals are coming up. Costco generally has good deals during BF and the holidays.

Today I heard a late October release date (for two of the models) and that they may actually debut the phones next week. Tough to know for sure with all the rumors swirling around, but we'll find out soon!

Most insiders say this event in september is apple watch and ipad. And in a few weeks, October like you said we'll get new phones.

I haven't read anywhere that iphones were delayed till next year

I don't think so. Here their policy on their website

"The Total Wireless phone must have been activated on Total Wireless Service for no fewer than 12 months with Service Plans redeemed in no fewer than 12 months."
