The only downside to the Blendtec is the noise. It ranges between 95-105 db.
I ended up ordering the Vitamix E310.(Certified Reconditioned available for $289). It does everything that the Blendtec does with a lower noise profile. Ranges between 84 - 104 db.
By the way, decibel scale is logarithmic. In other words, 95 db is twice as loud as 85 db. 105 db is 4 times as loud as 85 db. Even with the Vitamix, I tend to not run it at the highest speeds. Speeds 1-6 are okay.

Yes, mine was in a brown box. I'm not sure if they sell the blenders in store. Good luck. Let me know if you're successful.
I did call HD custom service. They couldn't get a hold of Blendtec at the time but gave me their number to call. They are experiencing technical difficulties so I will try again later. I'm going to see if they will ship me the vented lid.

you were right, they didn't have any on hand and suggested exchanging / return & rebuy. as the only functional difference is the opening at the top, i think i'll just hang on to this one. (i don't find the lid too difficult to take off when gripping from the side flaps so i don't think the corner wings will make it worthwhile to go thru the process).

I agree. The lid is not a show stopper. The blender is pretty awesome. I did send them an email today about the lid. We'll see what they say.
The only reason I would return and rebuy is to get the 15% HD cash app bonus. I didn't know about this before I purchased.
Actually says "Costco" right on the box by the UPC code.

The 15‰ caps out at $7.50,fyi.

Oh I see that now. Not as much savings as I thought.

Pretty sure you'll get the same lid again. I got it and mine came with the little clear plastic piece in the middle and not the big one shown in the picture. I didn't have any warranty info in the box. I may email them to confirm it has an 8 year warranty.
My Pro 800 took a dump within a month of purchase. I called them up they said it wasn't registered yet so I said uh, and registered it. They paid for shipping both ways. I got back and I am happy again.
My Vitamix from Costco and Pro 800 from Bed, Bath, and Beyond each serve a purpose in my kitchen.
I might be impracticable to own both but with 20% off and a lot of BBB gift certificates made it only $350 for the Blentec 800 Pro.
I own the Classic version before they even changed their name. I got 20 years out of it before it burned out. Blendtec has been good to me and so had Vitamix. Go figure uh? :-)
I wonder if this will cause any issues with the warranty. The website says they only cover units from authorized distributors.
Looks like it's gone.
