It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

I got my Chase Sapphire Reserve in late August 2016. 100k points then. I still have it. I have 2 business cards with Chase as well (got them after 2016). So 1 personal (reserve) and 2 business.

Do I qualify for this deal? 80k is awesome!
See Post #1 and #2 where the question has already been answered. Bottomline: You need to have a 48 month interval from when you last "received a bonus" on any Sapphire card (as opposed to when you last applied or closed the account) .

Great info and good to know. Why does Chase not consider themselves to be a relationship bank like Bank of America? Just curious. What about the other big bank - Citi? Is it considered a relationship bank? Why wouldn't Chase want to position itself as a relationship bank?
I am using 'relationship bank' in this context as shorthand for banks that are more restrictive in approving credit cards for applicants who do not have a pre-existing relationship with that bank, not as a broader description of a bank's philosophy.

Currently: No

After: 1) 48 months have passed since you received the 100k bonus for the Sapphire Reserve, and 2) you have either cancelled the Reserve or product changed it to one of the Freedom cards, then yes.

what's your opinion of Playstation 5?

I think it's probably going to be nearly as powerful as my 2013 PC with a 2017 video card in it.

That is, it'll do 4k/60 fps in some games, but probably not at max quality...and 4k/30 fps in nearly all games.... this seems confirmed by things like this tweet from the developer of the Spiderman PS5 game-

https://twitter.com/insomniacgame...5909620736

"optional" 4k/60fps performance mode.

Suggesting the default mode will instead be "4k at higher quality but only 30 fps"

We've got a lot of consoles (PS2, PS3, PS4, PS4Pro- plus original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One- plus a Wii still for some reason...) and they're pretty much all collecting dust anymore.

PlayStation does at least seem to have a few worthwhile exclusives, once I'm otherwise caught up on gaming backlog I plan to grab the PS4 spiderman game for example... but it's still essentially a several-years-old PC in terms of tech and capability... (they couldn't sell it that cheap otherwise)

which link (specifically) did you sign through? how did you know it was only processed as 60K and not 80K? either chase or you is lying. Lesson for life: Better for one to be wrong than to be a liar.
I signed up through the one on this post. When I look at the Ultimate Rewards page it said spend 4,000 to get 60,000 points. I asked Chase and they said i'm not eligible for 80,000 and they would not honor it.

Historically, in-branch pre-approvals can bypass 5/24. Anyone know if it can also bypass the 48 month bonus rule?

You have 3 options from worst to best value typically... (there's even worse ones technically but not worth discussing)

Worst: You can redeem the points for 1 cent per point as statement credits. So 80,000 points gets you an $800 statement credit.

Right now they're letting you redeem for 1.25 cents a point against spend in a couple of specific categories to try and make up for how little travel is happening... CSR is doing the same at 1.5 cents a point- Categories are

Grocery stores (includes eligible delivery services).

Restaurants (includes takeout and eligible delivery services).

Home improvement stores.

Select charitable organizations.

Ok, next after that is the Chase Travel portal... you can book travel through their portal and get 1.25 cents per point redeemed (1.5 cents per point with a CSR).

Lastly- transfers which potentially offer the highest value- Chase has a bunch of airline and hotel partners you can transfer your points (usually 1:1) into the points used by that airline or hotel chain.

You can OFTEN get 2-2.5 cents a point in value this way for coach flights or Hyatt hotel rooms.

You can OFTEN get 3-6 cents a point in value this way for business class flights

You can OFTEN get 7-10 cents a point in value this way for first class flights.

I say often because it'll vary somewhat by specific airline, specific route, specific destinations, specific time/dates, etc.... if you have at least moderate flexibility in your schedule though it's usually pretty easy to beat the hell out of the 1.25 cents in the portal with transfers.

Obviously right NOW all that's kinda out the window since most countries won't even let americans in, and domestic flights are practically being given away by domestic airlines desperate for any passengers.

Ok, so it got correctly coded as 60K because you clicked on the 60K link rather than the separate 80K link. However, good news, per Doctor of Credit, you can always get it upped. See the link below:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/wh...nus/#Chase
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/18...out-chase/

"Chase will match higher sign up bonuses if you notify them within 90 days of applying. If you apply for a card with a 30,000 point sign up bonus and then within 90 days Chase increases that bonus then call them or send them a secured message, they will match you to this higher bonus. If the annual fee is higher on the bonus you are requesting to be matched to, then they will often deny you this match. If they approve you, then you'll keep the lower annual fee as per the CARD act rules."

Basically you get 80,000 points after paying an annual fee of $95 and spending $4,000 on the card in the first 3 months. The 80,000 points can be converted to $800 cash as a credit on your credit card statement OR you can use it as a credit towards travel purchases with a 25% bonus. So, that $800, with the bonus, is now worth $1,000. For most, the $1,000 is just fine. Others, usually travel experts, alternatively, transfer the 80k points to miles or points of various airlines/hotels because they feel they can get much more perceived value than the $1,000.

if you were anyway going to spend $4,000, you should not miss out on this 80K offer. It's not common to find such offers.

Don't give up so soon. Wait for a week or two till things die down. Then, reach out to them again. I doubt Doctor of Credit could be wrong.
