I had two hero 7 blacks go "bad" on me and was engaged in a 1.5 year fight with them over replacements on and off, only to find out that two out of three Samsung memory cards I bought off of Amazon as FP slick deals were fakes, and actually what caused my cameras to freeze, crash, fail to give me clear files at random. I felt like an idiot. I was so sure it was GoPro's fault.
Amazon gave me refunds for the cards even tho one was over a year old and I threw them in the trash.
Next memory cards I buy will be directly from Best Buy via price matching to Amazon.
First, if you are already a gopro subscriber, they give you an additional discount on the camera. I am not, so I couldn't see what the discount actually was.
When you check out, they break out the subscription cost (49.99) separately from the bundle cost and ask you to acknowledge it. At first, I was confused and thought they were adding this to the total cost, but when I checked out, it wasn't added. I did have to pay tax, and 2-day shipping was free.

That seems to be the best/safest solution.
Funny you mention that -- I've also encountered faulty Samsung micro SD cards. 3/5 that I bought in the past either didn't work (to its full capacity) out of the box, or it eventually stopped working after a short amount of time. I would constantly lose drone footage to them. I only buy Sandisk Extreme Pro 64 GB MICROSD now.
I'm thinking about getting this to upgrade from my Hero 7 Black for an upcoming trip. How long is it taking you guys to receive this from date of order?
I have not had a lot of time to play with the device thus far, but it seems pretty well built and I like the new door. Granted, I am coming from a GP6 (thought it was a 5) and not a 7 or 8. Not having a case is really nice as well.
The first negative to me is the darn screen lag when trying to select options. I feel like I need to click, click, click before it finally registers the click and finally opens what I am trying to access.
It's not a deal breaker I guess.. but I was pretty annoyed that I needed to pull my phone out and use the app to get started. What if I was the small percentage of people that did not have a smart phone or did not want them logging each and every gopro that is coming online and when/where.
I have no doubt that the GPS was enabled at time of "activation".
got my order today and in the box not only was there no sd card but also there was no camera either. anyone else have this problem? lol

Was the gopro9 box in the package and it was empty? I have been having a real issues with fedex and ups with damaged boxes that are taped up and missing stuff... outside of the items broken inside.
I went on a trip using GoPro 7 and it was a total disaster. The GoPro froze several times when taking videos. I had to pull the battery out each time to reset and lost the footage. Finally ended up using my phone.
I am hoping they fix this issue with the GoPro9.
This has been my biggest issue with the GoPro as well as friends of mine with them. They can be quite quirky and a lot of this appears to be related to compatibility with memory cards. My Hero 6 Black came with a 32GB card. I bought a Lexar 128GB card on the "approved" list but it didn't work correctly and got repurposed in another camera. I think a lot of this mess is related to the card being used.
I don't know why they are so picky about cards.

I had one GoPro 8 order that the shipper shows undelivered. They still fought tooth and nail before sending a replacement.
