*** UPDATE -- free AAL ends COB Thursday, 9/24! ***

It appears that another T-Mobile "Line On Us" for existing customers is coming this Friday. No word on the duration of the promo. Voice lines only.

It also allegedly stacks with the prior free lines. I'll update with any cheap/free phone deals that may be available...

Look up your SOC code (pasted from prior deal thread -- can't create a Wiki for some reason):

How do I look up my SOC code?
If you want to know what your SOC code is, login using a web browser so you are looking at your account. Be sure to enable "Web Console". (FireFox --> Menu --> Web Developer --> Web Console) Pop over to the Network tab and look for an XHR request to "Subscriber".
you'll see your SOC Code in the Response section. For example, here is the relevant section:

````
{
"ratePlan": {
"name": "Simple Choice North America 10GB Family Match Promo",
"planType": "SIMPLECHOICE",
"socCode": "10SFM2LN"
}
}
````

You need to be on the "home" URL when you enable the tools. I've attached a screenshot that shows (circles) all of the areas you should be at or click to ensure you can see the SOC Code. Sorry if this is too complicated - just trying to share info.

For your plan code view in Chrome:
View>Developer>JavaScript Console. Then tap Network tab then XHR tab.
Then go to the main T-Mobile account homepage (the magenta square with white T in the upper left…or refresh it if already there).
In the Java window, single-tap Subscriber (or type it in the Filter search tab if you can't find it, then single-tap Subscriber)
Tap Response tab (if not already selected). In that long string, you will find the plan and socCode.

Have been answered numerous times already. The line will activate once you pop it into your phone. The discount should also add within 12 - 24 hours afterwards. You should be in a good shape.
Thanks for the reply and reassurance. I've been looking all over this thread for instructions, but couldn't find any. Can you point me to where this is if it's been answered numerous times? Or is it in a different thread?

And is there a time limit to when I need to receive the SIM card and activate it by? This is now my biggest concern as I don't think it will arrive before this promotion ends.

Get the new line on your plan (assuming you're eligible). Assuming the iPhone promo requires port in, buy an AT&T number on eBay. Port that in for purposes of the iPhine promo. Port your dad out to Google Voice, wait 91 days to be safe, then port him back over the free line. That should get you all the promos.

May just want to confirm that porting a new number later on while receiving your iPhone credits won't be a problem. I don't see why it would, though. Credits are tied to the line, not the number.
Hi Josh,
Im in the exact same situation and need help too. I already got the new line and port & traded in phone.
My sister's is on a different Tmobile plan, and she wants to keep her number.
How does google voice work? Do I port her number now and wait for the 91 days to call Tmobile to cancel her line and port it to my newly 9/18 free added line ? Thank you

Haha, this is a huge thread ... Search for the word "activate" and you should be able to find at least some reassuring posts (one example: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=140540657&postcount=1688).

No idea re: your second question but I imagine your new line is already in the system and technically activated (yet not visible) in your account. I imagine you should have to worry about actually receiving the SIM before the promo officially expires tomorrow.

For those wanting to port a number out of TMO then port back, I believe that you can port out to Google Voice (some say there is a $20 fee to port into GV) and set that account up to forward all calls to the TMO line. So in theory you won't need to port back into TMO down the road and the GV number is safe to forward to whatever line/provider you want in the future.

I have been doing this for many years with my GV number so I expect that still works unless GV terms have changed.

when someone calls your GV number it forwards to your tmo line. but when you call someone, the caller id will show the new tmo number, right?

so essentially people will have to save 2 numbers to know it's you they're calling or receiving the call from?

So I asked the rep numerous times that my plan wouldn't be affected by adding the line. Sure enough once the SIM shipped and I got my congrats text, I looked online and my plan switched from Simple Choice to Essentials. So beware, you may have to spend an extra hour or so on the phone to get things back to normal for this free line.....

You can make calls through the GV number with the GV app - built into the Google suite of services on Android phones and available as an app for iPhones.
This way people will see the GV number.
Another perk of GV is voice transcription that transcribes your voicemails into text messages.

You can also forward your GV calls to up to six different phone lines, changing these out as needed, i.e. a parent's GV calls can be forwarded to another family member. If you don't want to do this for the long haul it can always be done just long enough to safely port the original TMO number back into your new free TMO line.

Just back from T-mobile store. They told me I am eligible for the free line and free iPhone Pro. They tried to sell 3rd line free promotion, but I said no. And then, they told me I need to sigh new EIP. The contract shows $900 outstanding balance after the $100 of instant credit from my old iPhone 8 trade-in. It doesn't mention anything about credit. However, I got an instant text message saying Congrats! I will receive promotion discount. So, I signed the EIP. After back to home, I checked my T-Mobile account, but there is no promotion assigned to my ported number. Also the paper contract is saying I will be charged $20 per month. Is this normal? Should I call T-Mobile to make sure I got free line and free iPhone?

Ignorant Rep. Top Front page of TMO website for customers is:

Add a voice line for free to an eligible plan with two or more existing lines.

Takes up half the screen.

And the T&C right under the banner:

Get a FREE line.
Add a voice line for free to an eligible plan with two or more existing lines.

Subject to change. Free new line for accounts with 2 to 11 voice lines; plus taxes & fees for accounts currently paying for a T-Mobile wireless line with additional taxes & fees. Qualifying credit and Magenta, Essentials, ONE, Business Unlimited, or Simple Choice plan required. Credits may take up to 2 bill cycles; credits will stop if you cancel any lines. Limit 1 offer per account.
