It was very easy to see an option for those that don't have a .EDU address; it's clearly stated right on the site in the post's link: "No .edu email? No problem.
Click here to learn how you can still qualify. Offer terms apply." That link takes you to an option that uses the promo code "non_edu_promocode", which worked fine for me. Perhaps "Fundamentals of Reading Web Pages" should be a mandatory course.

Just a note that I had to add exceptions to my ad- and tracking-blockers to get through the "onboarding" process and to go through the cancellation ordeal.

The site is clearly designed to be misleading in a lot of ways (four steps to cancel, each of which makes you think you're making a terrible, irreversible mistake). As many others have stated (thanks!), you can "cancel", and you'll still receive your free year. I'd recommend that everyone do this immediately. They're clearly planning to make a lot of money off students who forget and will be charged $180 in a year.

I canceled right after signing up will continue to have access for one year.

Also, this is from their TOS: "You may cancel a Recurring Subscription at any time, but if you cancel your subscription before the end of the current subscription period, we will not refund any subscription fees already paid to us. Following any cancellation, however, you will continue to have access to the service through the end of your current subscription period.

This is a great deal. It does say limited supply in the terms, so I'd jump on it if you are eligible, and don't forget to immediately cancel to stop auto-renew but keep access.

Anyone getting "Sorry. That promotion is not available. For more information, see our Offer Terms."? I used my alumni email.

I was able to jump on this deal with an .edu email address from a college I graduated from 5+yrs ago. For all of you who are unsure about your elgibility, you might as well try and see.

If I subscribe for $1 do I have access to everything or do I need to pay more money to get access to other functions within there?

Make sure there's the "edu" promo code or something in the field. I don't remember what it was exactly but it automatically populated for me. There should be a promo code there.
Same is happening with me, I can't figure out what I need to do for it to say $1 instead of $180 at checkout. I even downloaded the app and it has me classified as a student

Also my chase offer had $15 back from masterclass. Not sure if this qualifies but added the offer anyway.
Quote from wspfan :
Bonus if it triggers> Chase and Bank of America have $15 offer as mentioned above!!
FYI I too had the $15 back offer but only on my Sapphire Preferred card and not my Freedom card.

Just signed up and they do that annoying thing where they make you follow people. As if I knew what I wanted to do the moment I signed up.

Luckily you can just add 6 random people and remove them later, but no way to skip during initial sign up.
As soon as it took me to the Onboarding process (masterclass.com/onboarding) I just went to masterclass.com/account/edit and cancelled, and I didnt have to 'follow' anyone.

Signed up. I'm no student, but am a faculty member. Worked. Simply requires a .edu email, regardless of how or why you have one.

Anyone use their credit cards' Virtual Account Numbers? Generate a virtual card with a limit of $2, set the expiration date to 2 months prior. Then you don't have to worry about cancelling it a year later.

I got this error trying to use an alumni .edu email address. Oh well.
Sorry. That promotion is not available. For more information, see our Offer Terms.

Edit- Used non-edu promotion and it worked
